it happens mostly when my computer moves, the screen screws up and the comp can turn of, or flash back and forth between a black screen. is something dying, is some connection broken, whats going on? is it a hardware or software problem, what kind of thing needs to be replaced if its hardware?

hmmm.... sounds like you might need to turn caps lock on, that will probably fix it

"An unknown error occurred in NVIDIA Graphics Driver"

I sent in the error report to windows and the auto response was this. I contacted dell to get it repaired since its under warrenty. They were going to send me a box to put the comp in so i could mail it back to them so they could repair it. But they always mail things to the wrong place or forget to mail it, so I'm guessing thats why the box is more than a week late. They refused to send out a technician like they usually do because they said they arent allowed to diagnose it on scene, although they have done just that in the past, it just depends who you get on the customer service line. So is there anything I can do about this NVIDIA thing? Sending off my comp will get it lost and get me into a fight to get it back or get a new one, which while I wouldn't mind a new one, I don't have to fight with them when they lose it.

back up HD if you mail it to them first!

Why don't you try and get the last drivers from the dell website. Uninstall the graphics card from add remove hardware. Turn off computer, reseat card, turn computer on and reinstall driver after it boots up.

Well I was told to remove the hard drive before mailing it off, but of course I'm not mailing it off since they failed to mail me the box. The person I spoke to on the phone had me try two pieces of software, but they didn't install because I had as current or more current software.

Whats the GPU, and how would I check?

is this a laptop or a desktop?

if it's a desktop, you can open the side and make sure the video card is securely in place. if it's a laptop like I think it is, you'll just have to remove the HDD and hope the company can fix it.

They could send out a technician if I was sure of the problem instead of having them lose my computer by mailing it to the wrong address. Since I tried the software they suggested which was no newer than what I had and thus did not install, can I be sure that it is a lose video card?

despite my warrenty... on site warrenty, that i have renewed my computer will not be fixed. they failed to mail me anything like always, no matter how much i give them my address, and they will not send anyone because they say they arent allowed to without being sure of the problem in advance.
