I'm not gonna pretend I know anything about cars cuz I don't. That's why I'm asking you guys to help. All I know is that a symbol lit up on the dash of my Pontiac Sunfire today. It's not the oil symbol, or the "check engine" symbol. I originally thought it was the coolant symbol, but I added coolant and its still on.

It's bright red, and is a rectangle with a low liquid line near the bottom and an arrow pointing down. I'm a little anxious because I have to drive 2 hours for work tonight and if I don't figure out what the problem is I'm screwed. So can anyone help me? I won't care if you call me an idiot as long as you help.

i'm gonna go buy every liquid sold at the gas station, stuff it in my car and see what happens

right b4 u crank a car all the idiot lights come on.. look at the lights that come on and u can eliminate what you think it is.. and then u can start to guess about what is left.

I'm banking on low gas, or gas cap according to pictures of Pontiac Sunfire gauges (depending on what year):

what about on a camry the light that looks like your brake lights are on?

That one means that you have a tailight of some sort out. Brake light, tail light, i think even rear turn signal, or the 3rd brake light. I used to have a '93 camry, so I know exactly what you're talking about. It's also in the manual if you need further clarification.

turns out its the cooling system

i dont have a temperature gauge for it so that symbol basically tells me my car is about to overheat

thanks autozone guy!


but damn, this is inconvienent
