I'm trying to replace the springs on my miata, and the top center nut of the koni is just spinning in place. I got the assembly out of the car and compressed the spring. But the center nut just spins and spins. The other shocks were fine... just this one.

I soaked it in WD-40 to no avail.

Any ideas?

thats when I use my best friend



lock that onto the flat head of the shock bolt, then apply force to nut as desired, working in opposite directions with the locking vice (best friend)

I don't know about Koni's, but a lot of the shox I've worked with have a hex slot in the top of the shaft...basically, what tchenku said...

i think konis have a 7mm hex head. a slick way to take them on/off and to torque them is to get a big spark plug socket w/ the rubber pulled out. then put a 1/4" drive extension though it w/ the 7mm socket on the end. then you can hold the center and put a wrench or a crows foot on the nut
