Saddam and Al-Qaeda.
Quote : | "Key Bush Intelligence Briefing Kept From Hill Panel by Murray Waas, special to National Journal Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005 at 4:14 PM
The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked the White House for the CIA assessment, the PDB of September 21, 2001, and dozens of other PDBs as part of the committee's ongoing investigation into whether the Bush administration misrepresented intelligence information in the run-up to war with Iraq. The Bush administration has refused to turn over these documents.
Ten days after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President Bush was told in a highly classified briefing that the U.S. intelligence community had no evidence linking the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein to the attacks and that there was scant credible evidence that Iraq had any significant collaborative ties with Al Qaeda, according to government records and current and former officials with firsthand knowledge of the matter.
The information was provided to Bush on September 21, 2001 during the "President's Daily Brief," a 30- to 45-minute early-morning national security briefing. Information for PDBs has routinely been derived from electronic intercepts, human agents, and reports from foreign intelligence services, as well as more mundane sources such as news reports and public statements by foreign leaders. yeah but didn't we invade because he had WMDs? And it was his burden to prove that he didn't?
or was it because he gassed his own people?
or wasn't it because Saddam was a bad man who ruled with tyranny and oppression?
actaully i recall it know. freedom was on the march. 11/23/2005 9:39:24 AM |

I was more thinking down the lines of:
Quote : | "An Inauspicious Start at School in Andover Bush did not get off to an auspicious start when he arrived as at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., as a sophomore or "lower middler" in the school's vernacular. His first English grade – for an essay on emotions – was zero.
"As I remember, the impression of the red marker was so intense that it stuck out of the back side of the blue book," recalls Bush. With the help of a thesaurus his mother had given him, Bush had erroneously written about "lacerates" running down his cheek – instead of tears." |
What a tool.

yeah this guy's a dumb fuck
there were a hundred ways to say "we're pissed of about X and we're going to go kick the shit out of this guy"
X being shooting at our planes, the un resolution not being followed, we think he's an asshole to his people, etc. that would have been more legitimate
did he use those? NOOOOOO. he had to go with WMD's and the osama link.
retard. 11/23/2005 10:26:10 AM |

What would we do if foreign planes were patrolling our skies?

Not all UN resolutions are respectable or worth following. But assuming they are, how many UN resolutions is the Jewish state of "Israel" in violation of?
Quote : | "we think he's an asshole to his people" |
Well, I guess we should invade China, North Korea, Israel and dozens of other countries as well based on that rationale.

not a goddamned thing if we signed a peace treaty that that was part of, unless we wanted to start a new war.

get them referred to the security council and we'll talk

yeah we should. can we? no. could we invade iraq? yes.
in the near future nk will come to a head one way or the other. iran will come to a head one way or another. syria will come to a head one way or another.
where/when do you decide you've had enough?

Treaties can be broken, you know. They are voluntarily entered into, and can be voluntarily dissolved. Iraq was/is supposedly a sovereign nation. If Iraq wanted to break out of that treaty and stop U.S. patrolling of their skies, they had every right as a sovereign nation to do so. If the U.S. doesn't respect that, they are the ones asking for war.
Now, if we are saying that Iraq is not a sovereign nation, but is subject to the will of the UN, the U.S., or any other foreign power...that is another matter. UN resolutions, while not technically "law", are obviously a step in that direction. Some seem to think that Iraq (and other nations I guess) are not really sovereign countries but have to do whatever the UN (or U.S.) says they have to do.11/23/2005 10:46:41 AM |
