lacquer thinner, then use the 3-m perfect it III cutting compound, followed by the 3-m final glaze compound, you'll never know it was there

^ no use of acetone, thats just retarded, lacquer thinner ( from a automotive paint store, make sure its acrylic base, not the hardware store crap) will not damage the clearcoat, but will take damn near anything off

i say skip the harsh chemicals and go straight for the polishing compounds, or GS27

I've used gas before to get sap off of my car (which seems like paint after it hardens) - it might work?

just took close to half a gallon of dried oil based paint off my sister's 2003 mustang that someone decided to pour on there the night before thanksgiving. if anything the car looks better now than it did before, because all the scratches, bug marks and small swirl marks are gone. i had to take of all the trim and spoiler to get all the paint off the car with laquer thinner. the polished the bejusus out of it with a da and the above listed compounds.
