My friend and I are doing a pardoy on "gangster's paradise" and "amish paradise." I was trying to figure out... do music artists just lip sing in their music videos? I'm trying to figure out how to film us in different scenes with one song. Also, is there a way to get just the background music from amish paradise w/o the vocals? I'm pretty sure i'll be ok with copyright issues bc it's for educational reasons. 12/3/2005 1:51:35 AM |

lip synch. i believe they do sing, but its usually just a soft rendition. its basically just to make sure their mouth is moving properly. 12/3/2005 2:00:43 AM |

For each scene, film your performers doing the entire song. Unless you want sounds from the scene to be in the final cut, just play the music as loud as you want so your performers can properly hear and lip-sync to it. Intercut each scene as you wish in the editing room, then replace the audio with the original over the whole thing.
Try this for two scenes for a 30 second portion of the song to see if its feasible. Please tell me you are doing this digitally, or at least have access to some decent A/V equipment. 12/3/2005 1:20:48 PM |

haha, it's gonna be one freaking awesome video.
It sucks that we have to film the entire song in every scene... it's going to take a lot of time to edit if we're doing 3 scenes.

why would it take a long time to edit this?
thats TWO cuts
i've had projects that take more time to render effects than youd spend on the entire vidoe 12/4/2005 2:44:45 AM |

I have edited 3 movies before, and it took at least 20-30 hours to edit a 15 minute movie, but they took wayyy too many cuts. But yeah, you're right... it's only going to be 2 cuts. rendering effects does take a lot of time, and don't get me started on burning the final movie. 12/4/2005 2:49:09 AM |
