I have a large backyard, it even has a concrete pad where I think the previous people burned things. I have some scrap wood that I need to get rid of, nothing usable...

Can I burn them in my backyard without getting into trouble?
I've googled this for an hour and I can't find anything saying either way.

I am inside the city limits and I don't have a barrel.

answer is any intentional fire can be fined up to $500

if you plan on burning anything in your backyard you have to call the firedepartment and have it supervised, and you have to pay them to supervise it... thus sayeth my lawyer

yeah I was actually lying and I was going to burn couches... they would have burned pretty but no way in hell I'm gonna risk a $500 fine...

I don't think you can unless you have a large amount of land or you live outside the city limits. I doubt its legal in city limits when you can just throw them away.

Yea, it's not legal inside city limits without a permit. I'm not sure what the permitting process is like in Raleigh.

The only thing you can burn inside city limits is yard waste (< 3 inches in diameter) and only if it doesn't cause a nusiance to others in the area and you have no local pickup available, so says NC law.

In addition open fires are currently banned in Wake County for some dumbass reason. That's never stopped me though.

um, you know we are in a drought and we went for like a month without any rain.

Your still not beyond restrictions. Many counties currently have bans on open fires.



But remember . . . its only illegal if you get caught.
