You have a good chance of getting your truck lifted in a lower income part of town.

nah, i was just wondering because the only place I know of is "We do Trucks" but I would assume they are over priced. I could be wrong but just looking for some Ideas.

you've still not said what size tires you are wanting to run

as for usage I just want something that will work out for a daily driver but yet standup to some abuse for an occasional trail. I really dont know what tire size right now. i guess that would help in figuring out how much lift I need but you know and I know that I'm a novice at this stuff. You'll all probably end up flaming me, but what would you guys suggest. I'm probably going to run over to RPM today in Garner to see what they would charge but I dont want to go in not knowing what I should start off with. there are basically 2 ways to lift your truck
one is cranking the torsion bars and getting maybe 2 inches up front. you can fit 285's maybe 305's. this is free, this is your best choice
the other way is a lift kit from superlift, procomp, etc. it uses a series of drop down brackets for your suspension and either new leafs or blocks in the back. these range from 6-8 inches. It does involve torching and welding, so they are expensive to have someone install
neither will really get you much performance off road except the benifit of ground clearance and bigger tires. Its still a newer fullsize and basically too big to fit down most trails without damaging it.

for around $250, you can pick up a 3" body lift, 1" rear blocks, and crank 1 3/4" out of the torsion bars up front. this is just enough to clear 305/70/R16's on your truck, with 16x8 rims, 4.25" of backspacing, other wise you are looking at about $1,500 for a 4-6" suspension lift. check the installation guide, most manufacturers will have them online. if there is no welding required, ie all bolt on, then you can probably do it yourself in about a day. it helps to have a lift at the shop, but i have done plenty in the driveway before. most people do perfer to weld the shocks mounts and lower a-arm drop brackets even in bolt on applications for extra strength, but its not necessary. 12/8/2005 5:01:42 PM |

or leave it like it is and go to uwharrie, you can get though every trail there stock and it doesnt sound like you even want to do that faggotry saying "occasional offroad abuse", you don't need to do anything except maybe get euro style tail lights...they are really durable for offroading and people stop dead in their tracks when they see you have them

i was just checkin out some random shit, and you can buy the pro comp lifts in sub-kits, i know its for people that want to fabricate some things themselves, but i can definately see some nigga lifting the front 6" and the back after a couple years when he can afford it. while his brothas' car in the driveway has two rims on one side, and the other two still on layaway 12/8/2005 7:21:02 PM |
