Kaze is boring. sounds like about 100 other rappers out there.

i'd like to see Doom, at some point though.

hopefully his next set is MF Doom dead in NC Dec. 18th

i can't think of a more overrated underground artist (is that even possible?)

and yes i'm aware of Dangerdoom and the collabo with Ghostface, i'm not some uneducated kid spouting the next thing he read on sohh.com or allhiphop.com (if you know me you already know that)

but MF Doom spit his best bars on Gas Face

AND DONTEEN FRONT LIKE IM LYIN

All I gotta say is, if you haven't heard the Operation Doomsday/Mmm... Food/ Take me to Your Leader joints, then don't hate until you do. And if you have heard them and you still don't like him, then it obviously just isn't your thing and that's fine.

Ah yea trust me, i've gave him a fair deal, found some songs of his i like (I hear voices, Cheese, ALL CAPS) and whatnot

just can't stand his "flow" is you wanna call it that. I can see why people dig him though, i suppose
That DangerDoom shit definately catered to his type of crowd

The Dangerdoom shit pissed me off just because of the adult swim clips. But the songs with Talib and Ghostface are fucking hot.

But that's just me.

I just can't get into doom. I've still got Operation Doomsday and Mm... Food on my computer, but even when I occasionally give them another chance, I just can't get into it. I can respect how prolific he is, but at some point, he needs to just learn that other rappers don't put all their material on wax because they realize it's not all album-worthy.

^ joel you obviously havent heard any of his new shit. i was never into him at first after listening to spirit of 94 and i dont like the 9.0 version all that much either but his new shit is dope. and he's recording 40 songs for his next record and always puts on a good show.

J Hova i know you arent running your mouth. and i kinda agree. I am a fan of his but i dont think he's as holy as some make him out to be. I am not a fan of ghostface so ive disliked the collabo tracks I have heard and i liked the dangerdoom. it was a fun record and that is what it was intended fun but some expected more. gas face was a good joint but he dope lines can still be found on madvillain and mmm food and on dangerdoom as well as other guest appearances.

if you cant stand his flow i dont understand how you can listen to some of the rest of that shit out there who equally lack flows.

if i was down there, i'd definitely catch this show -

MF Doom is one of the most slept on rappers in the underground scene, i think --

his flows always involve bizarre humor, and he's not afraid to go ahead and spit shit that doesn't even rhyme perfectly, simply because it sounds right, contextually.

i'm not a fan of the way he stamped the collabo with Dangermouse with Aqua Team Hunger Force references/voices throughout, that was fairly cheesy, unfortunately.

his tracks are often just 2 min or 2:30 or so, but they get to the point, and don't waste a lot of time doing so (think "Da Rockwilder" by Method/Redman).

also if he rocked some lame-ass mask, it'd be a different story, but that shit is fuckin' tight --

I've heard a few of his newer tracks, and I'll admit Deep Fried Frenz is probably one of my favorites out of what I've heard of his stuff. So maybe the new stuff is better; he's just so hit or miss for me, though.

what i'm meaning is that some of his songs i like, but the majority of it i just don't even want to listen to. for most artists i've got, i'll throw all the albums i have of theirs on shuffle and let it go, and i'll be reasonably happy with any song that comes on, even if it's not a track that makes me think, "damn, shit is on FIRE." for MF Doom, 50% of his stuff i would cringe when i heard the song start up, and another 30% i would still stop what i was doing to skip to the next track.

yeah i was worried to when there wasnt a link to buy tickets and i e-mailed them to confirm the show but got no response. but like goodguy said it's still on his myspace. and i saw this posted on the lawn

Quote :
"Yeah, so the DOOM show is def on. My friend interviewed him via email yesterday. Here is the transcript...pretty simple and funny.

Currents: Why Wilmington? You could book up any venue in the country. Why play here in

such a relatively small town?

MF Doom: Never had a chance to see my peoples in NC. I wanted to check it out.

Currents: In the last three years you have been involved with over a dozen projects, all of which

have been brilliant. What is your drive? What is pushing you to work so hard and to create such

fantastic music?

Doom: Kash and Kreativity

Currents: How did you begin work with Madlib and Dangermouse? Did they approach you or

did you want to work with them? Of the two, which is your favorite? Which are you most proud

of?

Doom: They both reached out to me and they both are my brothers. I got love for both

Currents: There is a constant rumor that a MF Doom and Ghostface Killer project is in the

works. Any truth to that?

Doom: I'm not at liberty to speak on that one yet.

Currents: What are your final thoughts of hip hop in general and the current trends in hip hop

in particular?

Doom: None of my thoughts are final."

Supposedly, his flight from ATL was cancelled 'cause of the rain. I'm not sure if I believe that though. At least I got my money back...

yeah Doom was a no show. Kaze did his set, rocked some new joints, but ended up being the only one on the flyer to show up. MF Doom, Xile, Tragedy Khadafi, first cousins, and betrayal never took the stage.

After Kaze ended his set everyone was waiting around for Doom to come out and instead a Marrz employee gets on stage to say that Doom won't be there b/c the wilmington airport is closed and all incoming flights were canceled including doom's flight from Atlanta. There was a slight rain outside but nothing serious enough to cause a cancelation so it definitely seemed like a bullshit excuse.

but not sure who to blame. I hope Doom wouldn't be that shady and pass up easy money especially when he hand-picked the location. but on the other hand this happens a lot down in wilmington and makes artists rather stay on I-95 and not get off on 40. it should have been booked at the soapbox instead if it was going to stay in wilmington but they were already booked or better yet it should have been at cat's cradle instead. grrr

as an airline employee i will tell you that it doesn't take much for flights to cancel. you'd be surprised what a little rain can do....

that said, his flight really did get cancelled. if they knew ahead of time he wasn't going to be there, then they would have just cancelled it all together and not even have opened the doors.
