^^^are you retarded? First of all it wasn't serious, due to the fact that it would probably cost $8k at least. Secondly, that is a honda motor.

also refer to the past year's worth of Honda Tuning magazine for motor swaps/builds/set-ups. with an unlimited budget, I'd run a bored/stroked/turbo'd B-series with all necessary mods...probably around 2-liters disp. 12/9/2005 3:30:44 PM |

^ why not do that to a K series? Forgive my limited Honda knowledge... 12/9/2005 3:32:34 PM |
Hurley Suspended 7284 Posts user info edit post |
depends on what generation motor/body swap is going on.... and the B,D and H series motors seem to have more aftermarket support, currently - but support for the K is building. It's most probably possible, but much harder with the reversed intake/exhaust routing on the K's - for turbo application and firewall adjustments on generations other than the 01 and up

you can get a K-r motor swapped into the civic for probably the same amount as an ITR b series motor swapped in. and id def. go with K motor.
thats how the prices use to be, now im not sure if the K series is more expensive 12/9/2005 4:57:16 PM |

I don't think you need a turbo for a K20 swap to be fast. IIRC, the EGs I was seeing on forums seemed to run mid 12s with pretty much just the swap and maybe some basic bolt-ons (Most of which are required to make the engine fit and work properly anyways). I'm pretty sure a supercharger could take it into the 11s. No point in having much more power than that in a FWD. Plus if you left the K20 relatively stock you could make good power with very good reliability. I bet it could even take the supercharger for quite a while on stock internals.
I wouldn't mind a K20 swapped DC2 type R. I'd leave it NA though.

Good c5 swaps go for about $4k-$5k nowadays. Overpriced, I think. I would rather a turbo c1 for about (maybe a little more) the same money. 12/9/2005 6:09:58 PM |

^^^^yeah, i'm just saying...why handicap yourself by starting with an economy car when there are better platforms out there? besides, even if you do things the hard way and make a Civic fast, you still have the FWD problem.
DSM if you wanna lay down quick ETs (or Fbod/Camaro if you like domestics)..and DSM still handles ok
240sx/Miata/MR2 if you want a circuit machine
you could do the WRX/EVO thing...i'd much prefer either of them to a Civic

civics are a pretty forgiving track car though that doesn't handle aweful 2ks make good circuit cars too.
n20 is pretty lame though.
like using viagra... you're not always ready to race.
i'd run a turbo and water/alky injection if anything... bump the boost up and get better fuel mileage and water doesn't cost nearly as much. (2$ a gallon for alky)

Like I said, I wouldn't SC my K20 if I had one. Since he was talking about the possibility of a turbo not fitting with a K20 swap, I was saying that he could still SC it if he really wanted forced induction.12/9/2005 6:36:27 PM |

saw an '02 civic with a turbo K20 run mid 11's on drag radials a while back
yeah what do you want this thing for anyway? If you want something that's strong in a straight line then you should pick a better platform. Platforms Duke didn't mention would be the 3000GT vr-4, which is on the heavy side but can still be nasty with street tires and pump gas + alcohol. I also have to plug a second generation rx-7 if you want a car with a little less straight line potential than a DSM but better handling. 12/9/2005 6:37:28 PM |
Icehouse All American 960 Posts user info edit post |
except its not as easy to find a vr-4 in decent shape that still fits in the "economy car" price range

dude my cherokee weighs less than a 3000gt...
soo buy one of those... stroke and turbo it then use the awd for 1/4 mile runs
make sure it has the np232 so it is does infact have the awd selection not just 4wd (the 2nd will make drivetrain parts go boom)
btw... this is a bull shit post that is a complete joke before you start flaming 12/9/2005 6:45:18 PM |

just go out and buy a new radiator cap, then drive a new car under it. dont do anything to it just put euros on it and leave it alone like all the other ricers on here. you wanna buy a 5.0 and sup it up. that way the power you gain from it will show 12/10/2005 1:00:37 AM |

luck of the draw. I know plenty of guys who've put down a 500+awhp for a while on their VR-4s with pretty high mileage and without spun bearings. If I recall correctly though you're the guy that rebuilt one of the unlucky ones?12/10/2005 1:21:25 AM |

^^ yeah I rebuilt one a while back. It was my first real project and I was too broke at the time to do what should have been a fairly easy job. I eventually finally got the bottom end and oil system problems worked out but kept blowing head gaskets and got pissed and just sold the damn thing. Somebody got a hell of a deal...I could replace the head gaskets in a day but just didn't want to do the job again (obviously the heads were warped). Oh well, live and learn I guess

~10k = cost of engine, kpro ecu, custom mounts for everything, custom axles (k inners, b outers), custom header... 1/3/2006 5:29:04 PM |
