tr for tuner ready

I LIKE IT!
what an awesome idea

i wonder what it has for parts... i mean i wonder if its an sti w/ crappy brakes and low boost and tall suspension.

or if the motors internals are different too w/ a smaller turbo & stuff like that too.
i mean personally i'd like to change the turbo, brakes, and change it to coil overs anyway but i dunno if it'd need a complete overhaul on the internals too.
but for the 8k difference in price you can do a whole lot to a car.

TR = Tuner Ready ...

... like tawaitt said, it's like a barebones WRX. It's so you don't have all the extra stuff that you'd probably replace anyways, like:

TR doesn't come with any exterior cosmetic dress-up -> Bodykit (spoiler, sideskirts, etc...)
TR only comes with single CD, regular has 6 CD Changer -> Audio system (24" Subs, Alpine SUPERAWESOMEPHAT head unit, etc...)
TR is a -> Add other nice rice

I am jealous that they have nicer 17" rims now.

yeah i figured but...

WHAT IS THE TURBO COMPARED TO THE STI?
does it have the same internals?

n/m this site is good for not much other than opinions
i'll figure it out on my own.

STi >>> WRX

- STi has always had a slightly bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, just bigger/better internal engine parts, better tranny, better in a LOT of ways.
- STi has better suspension system, HUGE Brembo Brake system, sweet rims, better tires.
- For 2006 though, they've upgraded the WRX engine to 2.5 liters(still different internals)

I'm no expert, but I own an 04 WRX and it dwarfs the WRX STi in performance. If anyone ever thinks they can get a WRX and mod it to the specs of the STi and still save money, then let me just say, please STOP. Just go get yourself and STi and be happy.

thanks so its probably not worth it unless one is shooting for the 400+ hp range where even the block gets tossed.

"Think of the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX TR as an Impreza 2.5i with lots more horsepower and much better handling. That means that there’s still a long list of standard features like power windows and power locks, but there are also several changes compared to the regular WRX. Those include black mirror housings, a urethane steering wheel, sport rather than performance seats, manual air conditioning instead of automatic climate control, a sound system with 60 fewer watts, a single-disc CD player in place of a six-disc changer, black interior accents, and the deletion of the front foglights. Such changes contribute to the WRX TR’s price being $1,000 less than the WRX. Also noteworthy is that the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX TR comes only as a sedan (no wagon)."

pretty gay... that stuff is worth way more than 1k

it's also not 1k less, only 500. sounds like a marketing ploy so ricers can say they've got a factory race car.

nope its 1k see
( i just happened to have this up anyway )

also note the weight line .... the sti almost weighs as much as the legacy and that there isn't any difference in the 2 regular wrxs

i think its a piece.... damn near useless unless you're building a 500hp car and were gonna ditch that crap anyway

btw the td04 is made by a few manufacturers i think mitsu was the original designer though.
the vf models are made by ihi

VR-4 guys but the WRX turbos on their cars. They make good power and aren't too laggy.

Seems like you could spend the $1000 more for the WRX and sell off the stock parts after you upgrade. Its not like its just a shell or anything special
