What are some?

I'm one of those freaks that liked Waterworld, and I usually likes movies that deal with this type of thing (12 Monkeys, 28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead). Day After Tomorrow sucked though.

I wouldn't say Akira would fit into these categories.

Escape from LA was too cheesy for me. I'll look in to the other ones. I never heard anything but bad things about Akira though.

^BAD things about Akira? It's only the best movie to ever come out of Japan! Well...IMHO.

As for the question as to whether it fits in here: the tagline was "the end of the world was just the beginning", but no, it has nothing to do with the actual apocalypse.

Akira is fucking awesome. My second favorite anime movie, second only to ninja Scroll.

Akira was a bit too weird. I know it's supposed to be one of the best anime movies, but not to me. I thought Equilibrium was a decent B movie, but it's more or less about the society that emerges after the apocalypse.

^^^^ Utopian/distopian != post-apocalyptic

And jesus christ, there's WAY better anime than Akira.
