I think you underestimate the gullibility and general retardness of a good chunk of its viewers. I'm not talking about college liberals, like you or Gamecat, who clearly take the time to read and think. I am talking about people more like my cousin. He barely got out of high school in Fayetteville and is now at WakeTech/NCSU. He is so Daily Show overboard that its not even funny. He hasn't picked up on the whole reading for yourself and thinking concepts through. He actually believes that there are genetically engineered chickens with no heads... it was the work of "big business" to produce chicken meat with less work. Of course, he read it on the internet. He thinks the Daily Show is the most legit source for news, period. I don't think he's even heard of Reuters to have an opinion on their service. He's like the evil twin of the 68 year old widow of a former Navy officer who leads the SilverFox group at her Southern Baptist church.
