I noticed that a lot of people all over the country were bitching about the "war on Christmas" this year. I thought it was a coincidence or just the first time it made headlines. Then I heard about this book...

So much for thinking people can think for themselves.

Last year folks were still saying Happy Holidays and it never made the news. God Bless Faux News.

Jeff Dunham was bitching about the Happy Holidays thing by proxy recently.

Other than that, i haven't been hearing too much about the war on Christmas this year.

The GOP needs to come up with some new fearmongering tactics to rile up the religious right.

I posted this in a previous thread:

Quote :
"For the 2010 midterms I think they need to kick it up a notch. Enough about the gays and terrorists. I'm thinking the growing threat of demons, man-animal hybrids and philandering pro athletes should be the new hot-button issues to whip the base into a frenzy and scare the electorate into voting GOP across the board. Bonus points if they can somehow link drug-resistant staph infections to the democrats."

I celebrate Year-End Gift Day, but I often call it Christmas, because it's very similar.

Yes, we have to do it again so that I can post that link.

What kind of naive evangelical thought it would be a good idea to sell what appears to be a burning cross to celebrate christmas?

Merry Solstice everbody.

to celebrate the Rebirth of the Sun-God, we shall decorate trees, exchange gifts, and have sex under certain favorable plants.

The religious right doesn't need any prompting for the GOP on this one. This is a standard, annual event for this particular community probably for decades now. Its part of the usual package for the holiday season.

I am disappointed to hear about joe_schmoe's sham celebration of our precious Solstice.

Those who are sincere in their faith, like myself, know the true purpose of this sacred holiday: excessive boozing and sexual indiscretion in the workplace.

How can we neglect the traditions that made this country so great? I mean, it seems like each December rings in yet a new low for this once decent, upright society.

Hey, since salisburyboy is no longer here to entertain us, maybe Duke can BTT your original thread?

i think it will be good for a month or so of fun.

(PS: you caught me Bridget: I'm not a practitioner. My religion is there is no God, and I am His prophet)

Truly thought XMAS has no historical roots with Jesus.

The winter solstice has always been celebrated. Humans needed something to be happy about during the cold, dark, rain, shittiest part of the year. Early Christian leaders merely adapted this celebration into a festivity for Jesus to help convert pagans

It's the last day of Lupercalia.... so spring has unofficially started!
Time to sweep out your house, sprinkle some salt and spelt, then on to the revelry and drinking!
