i used to want one, then microsoft didnt ship enough of them to the US, so I was thinking fuck you microsoft, no one else wants this shit, why are you going to ship them all away. The there were all those fuckers on ebay making it even harder to get one. Then they started over heating and scratching discs. Then all the games sucked. Then i realized the PS3 really isnt that far away. The i realized i dont even play videogames that much why the hell am i getting caught up in this shit. So I'll just wait and see.

Sony will have to jump leaps and bounds to outdo this system. The online service provided by Microsoft cannot, and will not be comprimised by any newcoming online service. Not only that, but the intergration of the PC and devices to the 360 is another thing that Sony has to outdo. As an added plus, and very original, there is an arcade on the 360. Sony will literally have to pull a rabbit out of a hat.

You have to pay to play against other people. You can still get to the Marketplace to download demos and trailers for free. And of course pay for mini-games and themes and various other things.

Sony's online for PS2 was pretty decent. Playing SOCOM 2 multiplayer was damn fun. There's no way in hell you could get me to pay for online gaming.

No matter how much better the interaction is with Xbox Live you still will have to pay for it. Nintendo and Sony will blow it out of the water if their's is free. It may be relatively cheap for Xbox Live, but a lot more people are gonna find it easier to just log on and start playing rather then having to enter their CC number and verify it and all that.

You're completely incorrect in your assesment of Xbox Live.

Xbox Live is more then just paying a bit of money you'd have wasted on a shitty game for online content, but rather a very very easy way to keep in touch with buddies and game with them anytime. The basic service is free and allowed multiplayer gaming, the premium service lets you maintain buddy lists, send voice/video messages and grab people who are playing single player games to join in your multiplayer games (provided they have the copy). Downloading demos and videos is also a very big boon and the trial of Geometery Wars(free) itself is worth the 10$ or so a month for Live service.

You just don't understanded it if you don't have an Xbox 360. You're always connected to Live and you can always receive / send messages so long as the box is turned on. Its pretty sweet.

As for Nintendo and Sony's online components...well...there is none outside of what the game publishers themselves support.

Live does cost 7.49$ or so a month to play games. Its only free to download free content.

The system itself comes with a free month subscription or some such. I don't know.

I have xbox live... they charged my card to renew my account because I forgot to cancel my free trial...at first I was pissed, but it was only $50 for the year(about $4.17 per month) I think that's pretty much worth it and I only play Halo 2 online. The matchmaking is amazing, and they update the game types fairly often, not to mention new maps. So bottom line is that it's not really that expensive for what you're getting, plus you can buy prepayed year subscriptions on Ebay anywhere from $20 to $30...that's dirt cheap.

I have no idea about the online capabilities of PS2 (mine burned up) or nintendo gamecube (kids games and I prefer the original NES), but I can't imagine that they are that amazing cause I've never heard anyone really talk about them...free, in some cases isn't better...
