Yeah, I did it. In one of my brain-fart moments I let my mind wander and came back to reality a split second before I bought the back end of an Altima.
So my '87 Teg has met its untimely demise from a stupid rear-ending, and yep, it was undeniably, utterly, my fault. Let the flames begin.
Anyway, in the interim (and maybe for a good while, at least as long as my separation and its accompanying financial burden are en force), I need something to drive. A beater, if you will. A motherfucking CHEAP beater that's reliable enough to drive 500 miles or more a week.
If you've got a line on something, let me know. I wish I had scored that Camry now...but hindsight is always 20/20...

I'd be tempted to sell you the camry for a few hundred bucks now that it's fixed if you finished my dsm for me 12/15/2005 8:27:52 PM |

you mean that rusted camry?
dan you still need to hit the feilds right? that justy on craigslist would be pretty well suited, if you can tolerate the fact that its a justy. 12/15/2005 8:53:08 PM |

Joel...I don't give a damn about it being a Justy. If it drives, it drives, and I'll bet it gets better mileage than most cars out there. You got a link to it? I been perusing Craigslist but haven't seen it.
Actually, I just found it. If it's still there, and they negotiate on that price, I might have to spring for it.
That Camry ain't really THAT rusty! And I will consider finishing up the DSM, but right now, time is a commodity I don't have a lot of!

I went to Smoothcrim's house a while back and he had a Camry that I believe was pretty low mileage and seemed to be in good condition, IIRC. We did some parts runs in it. Maybe this is a different car, or maybe that car was in worse shape than I thought. 12/15/2005 10:26:44 PM |

Ah. I was gonna say... that Camry I was in is worth more than a few hundred + some labor. That would be a pretty good daily. 12/15/2005 11:09:59 PM |

'90 Accord, auto, 148k It needs a new windshield. There is significant body damage to the right rear quarter pannel and right rear door (the door does not open). It was recently alligned, and the tires are in great shape, though they are pretty cheap. I put 6k miles on it between buying it in June and the middle of this semester. The only issue during that time was the alternator dying. It has been replaced. The car has been sitting for a month or two now, but it should still run fine. I am willing to let it go cheap. 12/15/2005 11:21:39 PM |

hell yeah i did the same thing almost.
The good thing is my truck is totalled and the ammount they will pay Wachovia is actually only $800 less than what is left for me to "owe" them anyway.
But I would loooooove to have a beater right now with just liability insurance. I swear I might become a beater driver and just get a "new" beater every couple of years. Just drive the fuck out of it.
Sooooooooo anybody got a cheap beater? cheap TRUCK beater?? 12/16/2005 4:58:51 PM |
