I dont understand how the ACC can be such a great basketball conference and hire the dumbest fucking officials. Its one thing to get rejects for football, but basketball too??? give me a break

Charlie and I agree, ACC refs suck

i reffed basketball for two seasons and while it is certainly a difficult job, these guys are just boneheads.

I don't understand how you get such shitty people in any sport, let alone two. These guys should not have jobs. Who was the OOC team that played a game officiated by ACC refs (was against an ACC team) this year and made the comment that they are glad they don't have to do that on a regular basis.

I think this is a reason Duke struggles in the NCAA tournament so much. The ACC Refs and inconsistency hurts a lot of teams when it comes Tourney time.

I dont think he really hung on the rim...he pulled it down a little but the fact that he missed the ball made it look worse


I just think the referees thought he was Julius Hodge for a second...thats all

^I remember several cases where the refs let turnovers go when they clearly should have blown the whistle and stopped it. Hence it was reviewed and overturned as a fumble or what not.

If he'd dunked it would have been fine.

I think they need to relax that rule anyway - dunking is hard and keeping one's balance white dunking is extremely difficult in game situations.

From now on I want to see our players dunk while another player from the opposing team is underneath them then just drop to the floor without seeing if his way is clear. We will see if State doesn't get a technical foul in that situation.

Umm yeah they are # 1 nearly every year and how many times do they go on and win it? Last year got knocked out in the Sweet 16 and were suppossed to contend.

Regarding the Bennerman tech, when they showed replays on TV, after he let go of the rim he slapped the backboard. I'm pretty sure we've gotten techs for that in the past.

I was right near that goal when Cam dunked. I was under the impression the tech. foul was because he pulled up back to the rim.

It's like he did a pull up on the rim as he was goin by. that is the illegal part.

About the slapping the backboard, didn't see that but if he did, that could have been it.

Duke has been a top 5 team the last 5 years and has not won the title since 2000. They "struggle" does not mean they always lose. They are not used to the more physical play allowed in the tournament. ACC officials call ticky tack fouls and for the most part do not let them play.
