Well, I just added the ipod adapter today to my avic-n2 and either pioneer did an insanely bad job of engineering this thing or mine isn't working right.
All I can get on the screen is "ipodXXXX" where XXXX is the play time in that song. I can't see what song is playing. Under the sources menu it doesn't show "IPOD" like the manual shows, only some sort of aux input. I remember when my XM radio did this same thing I had to keep taking it back until i finally (3rd try) got one that worked.
Any experience or ideas here? 12/19/2005 4:31:06 PM |

Yikes. In my last vehicle I used Alpine's KCA iPod adapter and it worked beautifully w/ my Alpine head unit. There's bound to be some Pioneer forum where ppl discuss issues about it...

^^^ it isn't quite the same problem...on the XM it wouldnt let me change channels or anything, on this its letting me change songs just wont tell me anything about the songs. The similar part is that its showing up as an aux input instead of an ipod (the xm showed up the same way when it wasn't working right)
I also figured out (from another forum) that it won't show the songs by default, which is obviously completely f'in retarded, you have to go in and hit function 3 or something like that on the head unit to get it to put the first 8 characters of it up (thats all it can/will display).
Anyways, I posted the same message on a few other boards and everybody agrees that this is just bad engineering by pioneer. Everybody has the same problem, pioneer f'ed this one up big time. I might take it back...I'm going to try to make some playlists and stuff to make it easier
^^do you have anything constructive to say or are you just arrogant because you think your little carpc was something I couldn't have done or is somehow a better idea overall?

welli dunno if this will help but...
i hooked up the ipod dock by pioneer to my AVIC-D1 and it works great. The first time i turned it on it showed ipodXXXX just like yours, but then when you go into the deck's ipod settings you send different functions to the ipod. For example, Function 3 tells the deck to display the song name, if you keep pressing it it cycles through artist name, playlist name, etc etc etc....all the functions have obviously different functions lol....like repeat, stop, etc...
its not broke 12/19/2005 6:30:42 PM |

thanks, I read that on another forum a few minutes ago...I'll go mess with it here in a minute. I still think its pretty retarded pioneer did it like that but oh well, we'll see how well it works now! 12/19/2005 6:34:17 PM |
