96 Taurus, has power locks, got an inexpensive aftermarket thing - can anyone here install it? I probably could if I had teh manuals, but I don't, and electrical is something I don't want to screw around with 12/20/2005 12:38:28 PM |

let's buy some cheap shit that controls the locks on our car, in hopes that it may one day fail making our vehicle impossible to secure 12/20/2005 1:46:33 PM |

I don't have the wiring schematics for the car, and I've never done one.
Though if I had both, I feel confident that I could learn and not fuck anything up too terribly bad. 12/20/2005 6:48:38 PM |

it only takes a few minutes, and if you can use a voltmeter and can disconnect a door lock switch to check polarity, you have no need for a wiring diagram. just make sure your car uses relays and not full amperage switchs, which it should (just look at the wire size). if not then things get kinda complicated. 12/20/2005 7:05:22 PM |

Wow, I can do both of those things. I don't know why I've been thinking "tap into the ignition system" and all that shit. 12/20/2005 7:18:31 PM |

the lead that locks the doors when you start the car is less than a 200mA pull, you can put it on anything ignition hot 12/21/2005 6:39:03 PM |
