My mobo is SATA 3.0Gb/s capable, but from what I can tell I won't notice any difference between the two interfaces unless i setup a raid setup (which im not planning on).

Basically I'm considering these two groups of hard drives:

SATA 150 drives with 16MB Cache

SATA 3.0Gb/s with 16MB Cache

would i notice any difference between these two groups of drives? any particular drive/series I should get?

is there a difference? yes
will you notice a difference? nah

even in raid unless youre going with 10,000rpm HDDs the computing difference is in fractions of a second so small that unless you have the cash just sitting around to do it there is no need.

^actually the 7200 rpm 3.0 gb/sec SATA II drives outperform the 10,000 rpm drives in benchmarks I've looked at.

Of course they were SATA and not something like ultra scsi.
