Over the last couple of days I have been having some major headaches while lifting at the gym. Right after I wrap up a set my head starts throbbing and my head feels almost migratory. After a like a minute it calms down and I feel normal again. Buts it occurs after most of my sets.
Its really fucking bothering me to the point I just want to leave the gym. Anyone have any advice or experience something similar? Could it be sinus pressure? I was stuffed up pretty bad earlier this week. 12/21/2005 10:14:03 PM |

It happens with any lift that I have to use a little effort. For example, this morning I was warming up w/ 225 in the squat rack and after I racked it started throbbing and every set after that. Its doesn't affect the amount of weight I want to do just mental. Yesterday, I was doing just doing back stuff and it hurt. 12/21/2005 10:28:56 PM |

it's very possible you are depriving your brain of oxygen.
Especially if this happens mostly doing leg exercises. I've actually come close to passing out several times doing squats (back when i did heavy lifting). If you don't regulate your breathing you can quickly hyperventilate and black out. The headaches could be a warning sign. 12/21/2005 10:43:00 PM |

Youre maybe holding your breath and not breathing correctly.
That used to happen to a friend of mine in weight training in high school. They told him that was his prob, he started breathing more, and he was cured.

Actually, it's caused by an increase in both blood pressure and adrenaline at the same time. They're often referred to as "sex headaches." I had them for a 1 month period when I would lift or have sex. I went to a doctor and he said they were perfectly normal. He however did tell me my blood pressure was a little high anyway.
So, yeah, it's probably not a big deal, but get checked out. They hurt like fuck though. I know the feeling. 12/22/2005 12:56:42 AM |

Same shit happened to me lifting weights.
Turns out it was a combination of a slipped disc and muscle tension in my neck. Go get it checked out. 12/22/2005 12:59:26 PM |

I get it sometimes too. Or after lifting I'll look at the wall and there will be spots like the ones left after someone shines a bright light in your eyes. 12/22/2005 2:53:52 PM |
