we had to read it in eng 224, the beginning is pretty enthralling, then it gets kinda lame and boring when he grows up
the thing i really didn't like was how the guy would use these purposefully manipulative clichés like "he was gone. he was gone." and "for the rest of my life I'll never forget the sound of..." etc. - reminded me of a community college intro to creative writing class.
