dude there are a bunch for under 100 bucks. They all have 5 or 7" screens so the quality is going to be indistinguishable.

Well, I want to be able to take it with me when I go on my sub. I don't have much room in my rack (bed), so I want to fit it in my overhead.

^^Seriously man,

I've bought and sold and used probably 10 different brands, sizes, and styles. They are all basically the same. Just get the one that you like and is the price you want to pay.

Cool. Next question: Are there any that have the capability to flip the screen (say, if you wanted to hang the "console" upside down from the ceiling but still watch the movie)?

i don't consider
60gig ipod video + http://podtropolis.org + itunes much of a hassle
considering i can carry around about 50+ movies around in something the size of my wallot

nothing will ever beat the video ipod as far as storage size, not having to carry DVD's around, fits in any pocket, can take it virtually everywhere...hooks up to my car LCD screen...unless they come out with fold out screens that start off as the size of a business card.

^even if you needed one....ipod + magnifying glass >>>> portable dvd player + bag to carry it in + other bag to carry your stack of DVD's

^You are assuming someone wants to take the time and has the technical ability to copy and transcode all those dvd's.

He just wants to watch some movies in a damn submarine. He isn't going to have another LCD to plug into, he isnt going to have a laptop to transcode with, he doesnt need to carry it in his pocket. He has room for the dvd's he wants to watch AND can share other DVD's among his crewmates.

This one is really good. Has a really high resolution screen, and has component video output (if you ever need that... good if you have a projector, and want a small DVD player or something).

THis one is also pretty good, has a bigger screen than the Tosh, and is in the same price range.

I got the one I showed above. I figure a more durable player will be beneficial on the sub. Now I'm trying to come up with what else to buy.
