YOU WILL BE MISSED.

Its been fun, but this season....has not been fun.

arguably the worst games in MNF history.

From Howard C. to Madden Horsetrailer.......You have made my monday nights entertaining for 25 years.

I bid you a fond farewell.

Post Great MNF moments here.

I'll start. That catch by freeman of the Packers against the Vikings about three or four years ago. Everyone thought he was down...seriously amazing stuff.

They did "cancel" it though, so to speak. They decided to not renew the contract because of how much money they were losing.

someone i talked to brought up a valid point this evening...from now on you will have to have cable in order to watch MNF at your house.

way to keep the poor man down (even though i will be watching it on ESPNHD )

Al Michaels sounds kinda sad/depressed

he's talking but it doesn't seem very enthusiastic

like he's just reading with no emotion

^^yes, but NBC will be broadcasting Sunday night football now.

You have to keep in mind that ESPN is owned by ABC, which is owned by Disney. Thats why on Mondays, ESPN airs figure skating during MNF and doesnt start Sportscenter until the game is over or very close. Its more like a lateral move more that it is a network stealing the show from another. Its simply a business move that will benefit ABC in the long run.

also....isnt it hilarious that when looking back over the previous commentators for MNF, ABC fails to aknowledge Dennis Miller in any way, shape, or form. He is MNF's red-headed stepchild that they never want brought to attention.

^ yeah, he's depressed alright. Its probably this game that is so fucking depressing as well as the last show. Well, that and the fact that Madden is biting of his fingers one by one during commercials.

^ dont know yet....

I'm sure they will annonce thier plans once this ABC run has come to an end.

They are both real stand up guys, I doubt they would announce a move to NBC before ending thier time with ABC. It wouldnt suprise me if they both went though. I'll be damed if Michaels doesnt do football commentary of some sort. He is by far the best in the biz right now.

Maybe Jefferson Pilot or Raycom Sports can pick them up. Sign them to a 10 year, $35,000 contract.

You realize that this game is over when with 12 minutes to go, they're doing the credits.

To make me and my fellow Jets fans happy, I remember the comeback from 30-7 down against Miami, and winning 40-37.

Its not really a lateral move like it might appear....NBC took over ABCs contract, they are just broadcasting the games on Sunday night rather than Monday night, and because of that ESPNs contract is adjusted to Monday nights. NBC will get the shifting schedule that ABC always wanted (the Sunday night games in the last half of the season will be decided as the season goes on rather than getting a meaningless Ravens-Packers and Patriots-Jets game to close out the season). ESPN still has theirs set in stone Im sure.

this whole thing doesnt make much sense.
If ABC is losing money paying 550 million a year how can espn make money paying 1.3billion a year.
but as one person explained, nbc is taking over mnf and making it sunday nigh,
but it still doesnt explain how espn can afford 1.3billion when abc cant

because ESPN currently shows shit programming during MNF. The 9-11pm hours are highly valuable to ABC. They could get better ratings showing reruns of desperate housewives instead of MNF this season. MNF also hurts ABC's local affiliates by not getting to show the local news until sometimes as late as 12:30.

It makes tons of sense to have MNF on ESPN. Plus it will help bars out on their slowest night.
