I love to write and am looking to get some freelance work with a magazine, newspaper, or other such publication.

Any advice from people who have actually gotten this done?

I figure if I can get an article of something published in a real magazine, that oppurtunities would likely open up for futher writing gigs.

purchase a copy of "2006 writer's market"

it's got lists of magazines & journals, submission guidelines, names of the editors, the type of stuff each publication is looking for. pretty much a must have if you're looking to get into freelance writing.
