While I am home I am wanting to tackle some speaker box projects, but I am tired of drilling, countersinking, and screwing holes for boxes. My pops has an air compressor so I want to buy an air nailer to use with it. At most I'll be needing to fix 2 3/4" sheets of MDF together, maybe birch plywood. How big a gun do I need, and is any Home Depot, Lowes, Northern Tool, cheaper than any other place? 12/27/2005 8:58:36 PM |

if you don't plan on using it everyday, get one from harbor freight. 12/27/2005 9:10:25 PM |

Damn, they do have some cheap prices...so how much pressure and how big a nail do you think I need for your average subwoofer box? I guess the glue is really doing the work and as such an 18 gauge at 70-80psi should do the job until it dries?
Ie, this could work:

I had one of the harbor freight ones.....it will be fine for what you are going to do with it. Just dont try tp use it on anything delicate like interior wood trim. It tends to leave rather large hammer marks. You get what you pay for. 12/27/2005 9:55:20 PM |
