Quote :
"December 22, 2005 - Steven Paul, CEO of the small film studio Crystal Sky, chatted with Gamecloud a few weeks ago about some fairly juicy projects that could put the company into the limelight. Tekken and Castlevania are both names familiar to millions of videogamers around the world, and Hollywood is far from exhausting the pool of potential that exists in console games, despite numerous flops at the box office.

Paul confirmed that production on Tekken is imminent, planned for early 2006. He said that the deal for that picture came about thanks to his studio's close relationship to the Japanese companies associated with the game series, Gaga and Namco. He did not, unfortunately, address any casting. The rumor about Jet Li's involvement remains up in the air at the moment.

According to the Crystal Sky Homepage, a promotional trailer for Tekken is "coming soon.""

"Crystal Sky is also planning a movie based on the venerable arcade hit Pac-Man. However, Paul wouldn't divulge any details at this time."

A Castlevania movie would kick ass if done well. Of course, you could say that about a lot of games.

According to IGN, someone optioned it for a screenplay but that option "expired" (however that works), so I guess it's at square one. I don't have a link, but it was discussed in the mailbag section of cube.ign.com.

See just about all of the movies on that list have the potential to absolutely kick ass, but we all know that they are gonna end up like shit. I mean they cast Vin Diesel as Agent 47 in Hitman for Christ's sake.

btw I personally think that Natasha Henstridge would make a perfect Samus.

I'd be willing to lay money on it that 99% of whatever heroines occur in said movies would be played by Mila Jovovich.

seriously, most action movies are already set up as games anyway with action interspersed with minor-bosses building to a climax with a big boss battle

wtf is wrong with Hollywood now?? Is there no creativity?? re-makes and video game movies are another excuse/method of avoiding originality. I just don't like the idea of this at all.

i think tekken could work, because i don't care much about plot when i want a martial arts fighting movie. i want Bloodsport--follow one character on his way to the top with a mildly plausible subplot that allows for some comic relief, but focus mostly on delivering entertaining matchups of different fighting styles and 80's-style fighting music montages.

Well, unfortunately Dead or Alive is definately being made. I saw the trailer for it and not even heavy drug use could make that movie look good.

Castlevania could be a good movie, but Tekken, nah, I don't think so. Street Fighter made for a really crappy movie, and Mortal Kombat was good but it's sequel was garbage, so you figure that fighting games don't have much luck being good movies.

And Crazy Taxi has actually been under consideration for a while. I remember first hearing about that back in 2002 or something. I think it was going to be set in New York. That's all I remember about it though.

There's some potential in Silent Hill though. It's being directed by the same guy that did Brotherhood of the Wolf, which was a fucking fantastic movie.
