Anyone know where i can get a steering box seal kit for where the drop pitman arm connects??? Ive tried advanced, autozone, and walker automotive and none of them carry it.. maybe dealer only part? Not sure, what do yall think? 12/29/2005 10:10:37 AM |

ive gotten em at advance and az before. they are dumbasses. go to the website, find the PN, and go tell em to pull it.
pittman arm seal kit i think it the formal name. 12/29/2005 10:58:35 AM |

get a mopar kit (dealer). only ~20-25 bucks, and better quality than the parts stores.
have fun replacing it, it's a dirty pita job. 12/29/2005 11:29:56 AM |

what box are you refering to? most boxes i've done (tj included) require you to remove the box, remove the shaft, wrestle with snap rings, and put the seal in. def. more than 20 min.
this is assuming we're talking about the shaft seal, and not just the dust seal thing that presses in...

wow man. not at all.
pitman arm reseal you can leave the box in, pull the arm, remove the snapring, pull the outer seal, start the vehicle, crank the wheel to lock to blow the inner seal out, then install new parts and fluid. 12/29/2005 12:27:46 PM |

hmmm. you've got better hands or luck than me then. i attempted the first couple that way, but never could get the new seal/snap ring seated back right. oh well, it gives me the oppurtunity to check the sector shaft for wear and any other internals. 12/29/2005 12:49:12 PM |
