Does it matter that it's metallic?
There's a group of materials called electroactive polymers but I think it's like some NASA type shit. I can't find a place to buy any. But I haven't looked that hard.

i want to try and replicate and real muscle with them so i'll probably have groups of them overlapping
i need something nonconductive that'll contract with them so as not to interfere with the other wires i guess
