Obviously some of these games will not happen if any of the predictions go wrong since the NFL reshuffles match-ups after Round 1, but here are my picks.
AFC Pats def Jags Steelers def Bengals
Pats def Broncos Colts def Steelers
Pats def Colts
NFC Giants def Panthers Bucs def Redskins
Seahawks def Giants Bucs def Bears
Seahawks def Bucs
Superbowl Pats def Seahawks 27-24 1/2/2006 1:04:03 AM |

i know i am just being overly optimistic here being a panthers fan....but if the panthers D can step up again and hold tiki for 100 or less...i think the panthers have a legit shot at really making the giants look bad...like a double digit win 1/2/2006 3:07:36 AM |

Giants play pretty well at home. No way chris simms plays well enough to beat the skins D, much less the bears. Ill be rooting for anyone other than the colts. 1/2/2006 3:29:46 AM |

I feel confident against the Giants considering that Eli is the QB. He is gonna have a miserable day.
Then again, I don't really like the matchup of Umenyiora against Travelle Wharton. In the games that the Panthers lost, Delhomme got blindsided repeatedly. Demarcus Ware singlehandedly won the game for the Cowboys. 1/2/2006 7:48:34 PM |

if pittsburgh will actually blitz against the colts (they didnt even blitz the lions much though), then i think they can win. if cincy beats pittsburgh though, that paves the way for another pats super bowl easy. (cincy beats indy, pats destroy cincy).
i think pittsburgh beats cincy though. 1/2/2006 8:25:02 PM |
Fuel All American 7016 Posts user info edit post |
Cincy cannot beat either the Steelers or the Colts. And yes, I know they beat the Steelers earlier this year. But the Playoffs are different. Cincy cannot stop the run. Lately Pittsburgh has been steamrolling everybody. Even though Roethlesburger played like dogshit, they still beat Detroit handily.
Steelers/Colts will be a hell of a matchup. The Colts have lost their aura of invincibility, and the Steelers look like the heavyweight team they were at the start of the year. They are still kind of soft against the pass, though. Peyton will take advantage of that like he did in the first matchup.
My big "upset" pick is the Jags over the Pats. The Pats are always tough in January, but this year the Jags just have more talent and more motivation. 1/2/2006 8:48:01 PM |
ncWOLFsu Gottfather FTL 12586 Posts user info edit post |
nah, they dont even know who their quarterback is. it sounds like they plan on starting leftwich, who hasnt taken a snap after breaking his ankle 5 or so weeks ago. i don't think it matters who the qb is, they will not beat the pats. i think the steelers would beat the pats if they play, but i don't know that they will make it that far. 1/2/2006 8:50:41 PM |

I think the Pats are *gasp* overrated. They played a pussy schedule this year. Belichick will have them prepared, but their pass-rush will be semi-neutralized by the mobile Jags QB (whoever it is). 1/2/2006 8:52:58 PM |

If cincy can score 45 touchdowns against the steelers, I think they will win. If not, they might not. I think the pats can win it all if they don't allow their opponents to score any points. Indy make the Super Bowl if everyone wears a black armband and Barry Sanders comes out of retirement, but not to play, only to stand on the sidelines. If the Panthers return every kick for a touchdown, look for them to win the Super Bowl, but only if Seattle doesn't score on every play and if Jesus doesn't suit up for the Redskins. 1/2/2006 8:53:09 PM |

the talk about the steelers is more of a discussion than a prediction.
fine here are my predictions
AFC Pats def Jags Steelers def Bengals
Pats def Broncos i'm still including an if though: IF the steelers blitz a lot, Steelers def Colts otherwise, Colts def Steelers
depending on above game: Steelers def Pats OR Pats def Colts
NFC Panthers def Giants Bucs def Redskins
Seahawks def Panthers Bucs def Bears
Seahawks def Bucs
Superbowl Steelers or Pats def Seahawks 24-13

^^ you mean the same deadskins that almost lost to the Koy Detmer and the Eagles, right?
they were getting thier asses kicked until halfway through the 4th quarter.
They suck, they'll choke, Portis will do terrible in the playoffs, Brunell will throw 1902735280 interceptions, and Santana Moss will be sintuple (a very high number) teamed on every play.
and whats with all of you people thinking that the Bucs will just waltz into Soldier Field in Mid-January and win with an bipolar offense and a severly inexperienced QB. They are unlike Chicago, Thier QB MUST make plays in order to win it all.
Chicago loses to Seattle in the NFC
Indy loses to New England in the AFC
Seattle somehow blows out the Patriots for the championship.
and thats.........the rest of the story.

Pittsburgh solidly beat Cincy by 10 on the road.
New England takes care of Jacksonville by 14.
Tampa beats Washington by 7. 1/2/2006 11:25:18 PM |

AFC Steelers def Bengals Jags def Patriots
Colts def Steelers Broncos def Jaguars
Colts def Broncos
NFC Giants def Panthers Redskins def Bucs
Seahawks def Redskins Giants def Bears

Super Bowl
Colts def Seahawks 23-20

How do you figure?
Schedule (not including divisional games) Oakland @ Carolina @ Pittsburgh San Diego @ Atlanta @ Denver Indianapolis New Orleans @ Kansas City Tampa Bay
5 playoff teams and San Diego, Atlanta, and KC all were alive going into the final two weeks of the season.
As for he mobile Jags QB, they are talking about starting Leftwich who is coming back a bit early from a broken ankle. I'm sure they'll find a way to test that ankle too.1/3/2006 11:18:42 AM |
