not to mention espn and abc are owned by disney. so they didn't really lose monday night football as much as they didn't want it anymore, i would guess. 1/2/2006 6:02:02 PM |

Super Bowl rotates between the networks the NFL has a contract with....hence it will be on NBC in 2009...so yeah, ABC is losing their part of the Super Bowl rotation.
All sports contracts seem to rotate around...NBC wont renew with the NFL after the contract as they hate losing money on anything (see the NFL, NBA, and NASCAR). ABC has NASCAR in 2007 and will probably get the NFL back when those contracts come up again. Also, ABC will still broadcast the Rose Bowl, FOX only has the rest of the BCS...which is unfortunate since they cant put together a decent announce crew for one game (Chris Rix and Jeanne Zelasko on the sidelines? cmon), let alone four. 1/2/2006 6:11:43 PM |

Well, they're not losing MNF. It's going to ESPN. It's just that they were not making money on a weeknight with MNF ratings due to how much they were paying for it versus how much they pay for sitcom/drama/crap programming and then those ratings/commercials.
It's kinda like a few years ago when NBC had the World Series. Their director of programming or something said he hoped the World Series ended in a sweep so it wouldn't wipe out a night of "Must See TV". Stupid, but sports nowadays are pretty much going all-cable except the finals/playoffs. 1/2/2006 6:40:49 PM |
