I just want to know what you guys consider to be the best spyware prog (preferably a free one) that I should use for an office computer at work. The pc is fucking SLOW and wasting our book keeper's time. I'm going to try to upgrade the ram, but I'm just trying to be safe with possible spyware deletion too.... please let me know what you recommend. Thanks.

most of the time it isnt just spyware. my parents and gf love to slow down machines and simple removals dont do the trick. either way id use a combo of 2 or 3 to make sure you get all of it.

adaware seems the most popular and works relatively well. i used that and spybot searc & destroy to clear my system. ive also used (and heard recommended on here) CWShredder or something to that degree. solves a problem the others dont look for or cant see or something. i didnt read up too much on it but it worked wonders at the time.

as i said in some other thread, i use this combination, and haven't had a virus to date:

ad-aware
spybot
zonealarm firewall
symantec corp (free for ncsu students)
non-gay browser (firefox or avant browser for ie)
thunderbird for email (best spam blocker i've found)

ive got the same setup as quagmire pretty much. i only use adaware actually, but have the spybot installation file if necessary.
