Sweet! Another reason to like Amato.

As for Herb, I'll love the man as long as he wins. In year 10 it looks like he's finally put it together. Getting a commitment from a legit PG like Wright is huge for the program.

He's on a run right now. Everything's going great--Sweet 16 finish, followed by a 12-1 start in which the team is playing stronger and more consistently than ever, and we just signed an incredible recruit as the center of our 2007 class. So there's not much that people can bitch about right now.

But you can be certain that as soon as we lose a game (whether it's @UNC, @Duke, @BC, or anyone else) they'll all fly out of the woodwork again.

and with the way we are playing now, there is no excuse to lose to them

don't get me wrong, i enjoy the wins over UNC-G, UNC-A, GW, miami, etc...
but a win over UNC, duke, etc...would be outstanding

Losing to Duke and @BC shouldn't cause meltdowns. Even a loss @UNC shouldn't cause a meltdown but you better believe a lot of people will be pissed if Herb can't beat Roy with what might be his best team yet.

he has been on a run for the past few seasons, he is getting the opportunity to really build something special here. if all the fans would just respect the mans game, we would be doing so much better, esp. in fan support ( where we really suck)

back in the mid-late 90s when i was at state, the fan support was 100% better and the team was 100% worse than we are now today

^ it's true, it seems that people hate Herb's system to the point of not showing up for anything but top 25 games, even when we are a top 15 team. It's bullshit really, despite your personal hatred for a head coach, those boys on the court still deserve your support. This is one of the best NCSU teams I have been alive to see, and I know I won't miss a game this season, although even when we had piss poor seasons in the 90's, I never missed one either.

^^i agree except for the fan support... it's a whole lot easier to sell-out a 12,000 person arena than it is to sell 19,000. I think you'll see the support come around when the ACC season kicks up.

Just a few years ago the discussion was how much red was in the Dean Dome against UNC. But the RBC still looked empty for non-conference games. It's just hard to generate the Reynolds atmosphere in the RBC.

My main complaint about Herb over the years has been the lack of an inside-outside game, and playing soft at the end of games. We've completely turned that around as of late, and I'm thrilled with the job he has done. I just hope he has more "true" post players in the pipeline.

Even though my "love" for Herb is strictly tongue in cheek, I am not a fan of Herb. Herb is not greater than NC State. The two can be easily separated. You can love NC State and not like the coach. Seems like there's a lot of Amato haters too. And by the way, I go to games and I support the team so STFU.

And...the comparisons to Coach K are just dumb. He won an ACC Title in either his 4th or 5th year and had his teams in the Final 4 pretty consistently since 1986. 1 Sweet 16 appearance in 10 years does not put Herb anywhere close to Coach K.

And I really dont get why anyone would think Amato is somehow better off than Herb at this point. Last I checked, Amato has yet to finish above fourth. Neither has done enough to really warrant any "omg hes the man for nc state for life", but neither really deserves any "omg fire him now" talk either. Amato is par for the course when it comes to NC State football, as is Herb. Herb has his team in a better place right now.
