a locked up 350 with a rebuilt 265 in an old 2 ton Chevrolet I have. the motor I'm getting is a long block. I'm a Ford man, so some of you GM fans tell me- will the ram's horn exhaust manifolds off of the 350 work on the 265? I've been told that the heads are a little different.

no, but there is a place in alabama that remans obsolete cylinder heads, manifolds, etc. for old stuff like that, somebody help me out with a name here, that may have a set for it, we used to get 331/361 parts from them

[Edited on January 8, 2006 at 12:01 AM. Reason : i believe the 265/283/327 used the same manifolds, try to find a q-jet 327 intake for it]

i was just informed the ports and bolt patterns are the same for 265/283/305/307/327/350, spark plug position and angle makes the diferece with stock manifolds, headers will work on anything. why not put a 350 back in there? or are you going for the restoration?

I'm just going to use the old 2 bbl that was on it. I'll look in the junkyards for the manifolds then. I think there's an old set of headers around here somewhere too. I think I can pick some up without too much of a problem. my dist, valve covers, etc... should work.I'm definitely not going to restore it and I don't know if I'm going to keep the truck or not, but an acquaintance is selling me the motor at a really good price. it has a 5 spd with no pto, but I have an sm465 with one that I thought about putting in it. it would make a good nurse tank truck, but without a dump body it's not worth much and I'm just trying to get it running again. the size of the motor doesn't really matter because it's a former fire truck turned farm truck. I think I'm also going to make a trailer hitch for it and maybe some low side bodies. these will be good whether I use it or try to sell it. I'd still like to know about the place in alabama though. I have a Ford cabover with a 391 that I've got a dump body ready to go on.

the truck is a 67 and I don't know about the motors. I know the one in it isn't original and I'm not too sure of what heads are on the 265, but I think they have angled plugs instead of the straight ones on the 350. if it hadn't been rebuilt, I'd probably just switch heads and all. Also, since the 350 locked up I'm kind of scared of using the heads. I think if the manifolds/headers I have won't work I'll just pick up some old ones in a junkyard because I hate to put a lot in this truck. it is very useful, but it's just an old truck we bought to haul logs, etc... one advantage with this truck is exaust pipes will be easy to make, or there is plenty of room for some cheap purple hornets.

I thought the trans. in the gmc was a 465 and the one out of the bus was a 420. those headers might be too rusted.
