It's some new cookie they came out with this year. Supposedly it's kind of like the shortbread cookies with a more cinnimon taste. I'll get the official description from my little sister's pamphlet tomorrow.

Also, I just wanted to add that they're doing Operation Thin Mint again this year. It started last year and was a great success. How it works is people buy a box of cookies for regular price, and the Girl Scouts send the box overseas to the troops.

So, if anyone is interested in either of these things, just let me know.

Here are a few simplified descriptions of the cookies for those of you who have been asking.

Samoas- Chewy & rich tender vanilla cookies covered with caramel, rolled in tosted coconut, and striped with a rich chocolatey coating (approx count 15)

Thin Mints- Extra thin extra minty thin wafer covered with a smooth chocolately coating made with natural peppermint (38)

DoSiDos- Peanutty excitement. Naturally Good. Crisp & crunchy oatmeal cookies with creamy peanut butter filling. (22)

All Abouts- Beautifully designed shortbread cookies with a series of girl scout messages on top and rich fudge coating on the bottom (16)

Trefoils- Light & delicious shortbread (44)

Tagalongs- Tasty cookies topped with creamy peanut butter and covered with a lucious chocolatey coating(15)

Lemon Coolers- Bite size burst of cool lemon flavor in crisp vanilla cookies. (33)

Cafe Cookie- Carmelized with brown sugar, this charmingly crisp cookie will delight even cookie connoisseurs. with a hint of cinnimon spice. (47)

Cookies ordered will be available around Feb 12/13.

They won't be selling them at grocery stores and walmarts until the orders come back... .and that will be around Mid February

5 years ago it was $2 a box in the brickyard.

Don't get me wrong, there's no substititue for many girlscout cookies but not for fucking $3.50 a box.

it just reduces the number of boxes I can buy...I limit myself to spending $10...used to I could get 5 boxes and they'd last me like 6 months...now I get 2 boxes... oh well, I'll still be buying some when they come in front of the grocery store.

Yeah. I remember the prices being lower as well. Unfortunately, that's out of my control. The Pines of Carolina raised the prices to $3.50 either this year or last. Now the GS troops in this area get $0.45 from each box of cookies they sell.

And personally... there's no substitute for a Samoa... so, I'm pretty sure they've done some economic & statistical analysis to determine that raising the price won't hurt their sales enough for them to lose money. People are too hooked on their cookies to boycott them for $1.50.

I worked for girl scout central office for a little while, and the cookie promotion is pretty well run. They are expensive, but the money goes to a lot of places. So, its like buying a box of oreos with a little good karma thrown in.

There are 2 companies that make girl scout cookies. Both make Thin Mints, Do-si-dos and Shortbread but they also make other kinds... that why some people know the Do-si-dos as Peanut Butter Patties and some girls are selling some kinds and across the street another girl will have other kinds.
