did anyone hear the US tour dates on 1061 this evening around 8pm? i was out of the car when they said they would announce them.

hopefully we'll get a show somewhere in our viscinity and that i won't have to sell one of my kidneys on the black market to buy a ticket.

all in all....fucking sweet.

you mean Daltrey, A Child Porn Addict, and Friends?

No thanks.

I saw 3/4 of The Who one time, and they sucked (played fine, but played straight through Quadrophenia instead of playing songs that didn't suck). I'm not gonna pay again to see 1/2 of The Who.

child porn? & are you referring to around 2000, when The Who played @ Walnut Creek amphitheatre???
b/c i was there & yes they did play their ENTIRE double-disc & fucking awesome Quadrophenia album w/ the movie on the big screen............. most bigtime fans of The WHo would easily say Quadrophenia = their fav. album

then a LOT of people left

& they played pretty much every single "hit" song -

Holy shit, man, don't underestimate what Keith and John added to the band.

Watch some more old live recordings.

i thought i explained myself - i never listen for drum beats or can tell really if they are amazing - i do know that Tool's drummer kicks ass b/c his beats are off but still flow.........

I LOVE THE ENTIRE BAND CALLED THE WHO

even their roadies

[Edited on January 13, 2006 at 12:45 AM. Reason : so i'm not underestimating any of the members]

chickenhead. how can you not tell the power of keith moon? i don't give a good god damn if you've studied sitar and the norwegian drone fiddle: listen to him playing, and you know he's as important or more than the rest of the band.

That I would agree with. I was fucking pissed that I was out of town when they came through here that year, because Quadrophenia is by far my favorite Who album. And the movie ranks very highly on my list, too.

P.S. It's not the complexity of Moon's drumming that's important (though he was a damn fine technical drummer), it's the ferocity.

OMFG I WOULD SUCK KEITH MOON'S COCK IF HE WERE ALIVE

i wasn't trying to insult him - i've played tons of instruments, but never the drums - i don't listen for them in the song unless there is a drum solo.

when i hear jon bonnom's drumming from MOby Dick - i realize he's an amazing drummer - especially after hearing Zoso ( Zep cover band ) attempt to play the solo.........

i think the drum solo in innagada-daveeeda sounds basic as hell....... but i'm not a drummer so i really don't know shit about it.

which Who songs do you think keith moon's drumming is amazing in?

but, with the ferocity, it's the timing. he knows exactly where to apply the pressure.

he couldn't get it up

i just think you are all not realizing that i simply pay little attention to a band's drummer.... i realize how important the drum is in a band - it's practically the metronome keeping them in unison........

i'm more into lyrics, singer's sound, & piano, guitar - basically anything that has different tones -

as far as beats though - i do really like them in Magic Bus, whatever percussions are used ...

sigh ok - i'm not arguing about this subject b/c i can't play the drums & i'm not paying attention to the tempo... i'm not even intending to insult a member of one of my top five favorite bands....

anyways- what's your fav Who song?

mine is Love - Reign O'r Me

amazon says first track is "i can't explain" - i had to listen to sample b/c never heard of it - it sounds like the older who, a la "i can see for miles"

the link you gave me shows "i am the face" as track 1 which, unless it's a song i don't know, is from "Sea and Sand" which is on Quadrophenia & one of my fav songs too.

( i just know the lyrics "i am the face" are in that song )

yeah, but i'm pretty sure it was before then, b/c i think i was still in highschoo. prob about '96-97.

and fuck Quadrophenia. I like their older, more rockin' stuff. Prob my favorite album is "Who's Next", but I don't know...I like a lot of their stuff...but not Quadrophenia.

and the show I was at, they played a few of their hits after they did the whole Quadrophenia set, but nowhere near all of them. Hell, not even half of them.

it's definitely a soundtrack for the movie - like The Wall is - i guess the 2 cd factor makes me biased when saying it's maybe my fav. album by them.

if you havn't - you should definitely atleast listen to Love, Reign O'er Me + Sea and Sand from Quadrophenia....

those are 2 songs you'll rarely hear on the radio too...

yeah, I do like Love Reign O'er Me, and there's at least one more good song on there...might be 5:15, but i don't remember for sure.

and The Wall is definitely not my favorite Pink Floyd album, either.

Not the same song; it was recorded back when they were still called the High Numbers. The lyric in Quadrophenia is a reference to that song, since the album's story involves the whole mods-vs.-rockers thing that the band was a part of in its early days.
