I went on a trip and turned off my computer (I usually leave it on all the time).

I came back, turned it on and it was artifacting. I took off the case cover and it improved. It still shows up in videos (both quicktime and WMP). I haven't tried playing a game but I suspect it would be really bad.

I have a Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro with some Ramsinks. I bought it used and I have reapplied the grease once already.

I'm pretty sure I haven't changed any software that would cause it.

It's either overheating, the VRAM is bad, or the driver is somehow corrupt. OR, the card itself is bad.

Try reinstalling the drivers, make sure the RAM is seated properly, or installing the card in another computer.
