The Minstrel Show has sold about 90,000 copies as of right now.

Atlantic Records is re-servicing the record since Little Brother is currently touring with the Dilated Peoples and have a chance of selling more.

Warner/Atlantic is essentially going to act like the album never came out and push it again due to its buzz, critics, and the tour. I have no idea what the sales rep in the Raleigh area is going to be doing though I do know that certain Metro areas around the country will be pushing the album all over again.

If you downloaded or burned this album, get your ass up and buy it if you enjoy it.

They've toured with Dilated before, it was a pretty damn good show too

But I check Dilated's site, I couldn't find any tour dates near here

They currently have no dates set in NC, but they do have a two week gap in their schedule down the road so who knows.

Aren't they going to push the album again because they're re-releasing the album with DVD footage from their earlier tour?

Can't wait til I see them on Feb. 7th with Fort Minor.

I'd think it's the other way around. They're adding extra stuff to try and sell more.

Ok, as of right now there will not be a reissue of the album with bonus material. This is because there were maybe 200,000 or so albums made and 90,000 sold. If they can manage to sell the rest, then there will probably be a reissue with bonus material.

There was talk of it awhile back, however it isn't happening now unless they get through their stock on hand.

They should make it a double cd with The Chitlin Circuit 1.5. I think the mixtape was a little more accessible to someone new to LB. A concept album can be a turnoff to the uninitiated.

it's not that much of a concept album. i mean, every song isn't about the concept of black culture making a mockery of itself to sell records.

then thats not really a concept album, but concept skits

concept album would be, the first idea that comes to mind, is Prince pauls "Prince Amongst Thieves"

like a movie on CD

i was just naming the first one that came to mind for me, like hova was doing for him.

anyway, i still just can't get into the minstrel show album; then again, i didn't like the listening that much either, so i'm not sure what i would have expected to be different.

I understand that concept album isn't exactly the best description. My point is that the Minstrel Show theme is incorporated through the entire album which can be distracting if someone just wants to listen to songs.

i can honestly say that wouldn't be a distraction at all

maybe the percy song

but a minstrel show "theme" is most definitely not gonna shy away listeners

but I still think it is the worst they have put out

I don't really consider the Chittlin Circuit original because it had tracks from 1.5

Listening >Chittin 1.5>Minstrel Show

i love hip hop, and i loved the whole concept of little brother up until minstrel show.

if you want to live as a musician, you need to sell records. with your target audience being college kids and open mic night spoken-word-nerds, and your whole theme anti-pop hip hop youre destined to be a small time local celebrity at best. die broke in a lonely home.

i read an article where they were talking about how the laffy taffy song was such bullshit, and hey anyone will agree but you can believe D4L is payin the bills. now little brother fans have to go out and beg people to buy left over copies of an album? what kind of bullshit is this?

im calling it now, another local get-together group bites the dust. nasty fruit, whatshisname all over again.

it's a double-edged sword

you get rich, you have ignorant singles that aren't you ( in LB's case)

you stay on the "grind", you love what you do and put out, but you aren't commercially successful

i mean

i go about as underground as Binary Star

and that is BARELY digging in the crates

when a D4L or a Chris Brown or Dem Franchise Boyz are dominating the game

what the fuck can you expect besides 90,000 records sold

I think dope may be giving them too much credit, thats just me....anyways

i found that quote funny cause they just annouced tour dates with Fort Minor...and lo and behold theres none in NC

Paul, seriously. I like LB, but it's in all honesty run-of-the-mill decent hip hop.

I can't pick out anything special about it, other than that it just doesn't suck.

Well, other than it being local.

This is exactly what I was trying to say. I love The Minstrel Show but I don't find it suprising that it didn't sell.
