Since I've transferred here in January...

This is the most fratastic school I've ever seen.

ALLL THE WAY ACROSS CAMPUS!!! Means "400 yards."

Everyone has a shirt with one of the Big Four school logos on it.

People can drive in the snow.

You cannot skip an am class and tell the prof. you were sick b/c he WILL see you on campus later in the day.

ALL black students are athletes.

Their radio station sucks too.

You can walk into a basketball game as easily as you can a classroom.

You don't have to pay for 90% of your books. (big plus)

They know who Phillip Rivers is but not who Bennett Swygert is.

A 300 level course here is a 200 at State.

If you have an ex here, it sucks. B/c you will see her every day and probably have a class here.

But, you can actually get into a class.

More to come.

No offense, but I hope you plan on transferring out of there at some point, b/c a degree from WCU means absolute shit anywhere out of NC.

people come from all over the US to try to get into the nursing school at Western. most usually dont get in, since its one of the hardest nursing programs to get into.

but then again, everyone in the US considers NCSU an extremely elite education institution

I agree to some extent. But I'm a education major, Western was founded as a teaching college and is considered by some to have a better program than State. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to come back and get another degree or grad school at State.

BTW. ALL of the students carry minimum 3'' knives, even the girls! I'm not joking.

i had to look that guy up

and i thought this thread was going to be about The Boulevard, not the college.

and i went to UNC-A and pretty much all of those things were true.

well except for the skipping ones, if you stay in your dorm room all day sleeping and doing nothing your prof wont see you.

and i dont know how you dont pay for your books.

you "rent" them, you go to the bookstore and they give them to you, if you turn them in at the end of the sem. ther's no charge. I only had to buy a Spanish workbook and one or two obscure polisci texts... best idea EVER

There are actually a lot of highly qualified faculty... they seem to like the mountains.

LMAO, if you click "I do not agree" to the computer usage policy on campus, it will crash some computers.

this is cool, keep it coming. It is helpful to me when I have students who want to transfer to other schools. My brother went to Western. Everytime an area he lives in gets more built up (Cary)he has to move to get back to the boonies.

It's very nearly impossible to masturbate on a girl's shoe in the tiny library, and I haven't found the campus newspaper yet.

You obviously don't know Murphy well... Yeah, they have a Bojangle's in Sylva... but otherwise??? I'll grant them that. I like the used book store below the weird coffee house/resteraunt.

Unless you are from Thomasville stfu.

I'm sooooo glad I didn't let my mom pressure me into going to WCU (I live in Whittier), way too boring and way too many kids from my high school (I went to Smoky Mountain).

And Murphy has grown a lot from the way it was back in the day. But still, Sylva is bigger, i think.

yeah, the book rental thing is pretty suite...that's not entirely how it works though, because there is a fee built in to your tuition/fee payment

but Elizabeth City State has it as well, and Fayetteville State had it for a while

we're working to start it at every school, because it saves students on average $700 a year

^it is to some extent, but like most of the WNC towns it has exploded in the past five years. The growth rate is exponential... prolly much like Holly Springs and Cary were 10 or 15 years ago... I don't know I didn't live there.

I'll quote Kickin' Grass

"I can make it home to Raleigh in less than half an hour traveling Pittsboro at 70 miles per hour. There's nothing that can slow me they've widened 64. But the backroads ain't the backroads anymore."

That's the song I think of every time I look out my bay window... what used to be a forest is now the surface of Mars b/c the new (goddamned motherfuckin') US 64 is going through my front yard.

At this moment they are stringing the new high-tension poles. BTW, this is the most expensive stretch of road per mile ever built in NC... yes, more than the Blue Ridge Parkway.

^It's kinda in between... I had a g/f @ Gardner-Webb and I have a cousin who's a linebacker for Lenoir-Rhyne... Western is ridiculously small to me after 4 years at State, but not in comparison to the small privates.

I love to kill them... I just want to know how they get away with it on campus... maybe there's a club I don't know about that I need to join.

Western is far less pedestrian friendly than State (H-Boro Street notwithstanding.)
