Okay, the College of Textiles is offering a Draping Class. It's like learning to create an outfit on the body, and not just with patterns. When they first sent out the emails, it was for Seniors only, so I didn't respond, and from that, they have some weird times set up to meet. But now they've changed it so that there's only one prereq, which I have.

Anyway, the problem is is that I already have 16 hours, and don't think I could handle 19. I'd have to drop FLS 208, probably. This will put me already further behind on my FLS minor than I already was. Also, the draping class meets at 6-8:15 on Monday and 3:45-6 on Thursday. The night time is awful for me, b/c I live in Wolf Village, and take the bus, so I have to take the Night bus back and either walk the rest, or whatever. (For me, this is sort of a big deal.) Also, my work schedule conflicts with Thursday. I'm a lab op and work from 3-6. Now, I could pick up a different shift that I know is open, and only lose one work hour.

But is it worth it? I don't know if they're gonna offer this draping class again, or if it's even going to be worth it. The first class meeting is today, in the middle of work, and I feel like I'm in a real pickle.

why don't you go to and drop it if you don't like it?

because I feel pretty shitty missing a whole work shift b/c of that. I already missed the first week of classes (and work), and i need to let my boss know if i need to change stuff around.

you look like you are just searching for someone to say no it's not worth it so you can validate yourself - good luck i guess

i'm just looking for advice. i want to take the class, but i guess i just wanted to see if anyone else thought it was worth it to rework your entire schedule for a class you're not 100% sure about.

I personally wouldn't do it; chances are it'll be offered again. It's a lot of hassle to setup a class for just one offering.

the problem with the CoT is that things aren't offered at a normal, regular schedule. I think I'm gonna see if anyone can work for me today and go in and see how it goes. If there aren't 12 people, anyway, it won't happen. But if there are 12 or more people and I'm semi-impressed with the professor, I'll stay.

But I'd still like to hear what other people suggest/recommend.

Have you asked Pdail about possible future offerings of the course?

19 hours is a heavy load during the semester considering you have a job + other activities going on. You looked into/thought about summer class replacements for any of the ones you are taking right now?

i wouldn't keep 19 hrs, because i honestly know that i cannot handle 19 hours. considering that my tam classes either have group projects/presentations, actual garment(s) due, or a combination of the two, at the end of the semester, 19 hours would be killer.

as of right now, they need 4 more people to create the class. p dail wouldn't really know if they'd offer the class again b/c it's almost 100% up to student desire to have it and the desire traci may plumlee has to teach it.

if tomorrow they find out if atleast 4 more people are interested in joining (they're having another meeting tomorrow), then it will be created. the time is going to be freom 5-9:30 monday night, so i actually don't have to change my work schedule. But, i would have to decide to either drop FLS 208 or TT 331.

i have heard tt 331 can be pretty killer, but the professor that teaches it in the spring is vastly easier than the fall, so i would take it next spring, still. and, although fls 208 seems to have a lot of out of class responsibilities, i haven't taken spanish since fall 04. if i really am serious, or even semi-serious about finishing a minor, i can't drop this class. but, dropping tt 331 for the draping class will put me at 15 hours (tt is 4 hrs, draping is 3).

i'll still be a senior in may, but the fact that i only took 13 hrs last fall, with this 15, makes me a little :-/

eh. 208 is a breeze... i wouldn't worry about a terrible course load from it. (I'm doing my spanish minor to give myself fun classes and fulfill all the engr humanities credits) Also... it's offered rather frequently... and if it's just pertaining to your minor... and the draping class pertains to your major... it seems to me that it would indeed be worth it to make the extra effort for the draping class and save 208 until summer or next fall. 208 will always be there, but this could be your only opportunity for the draping class. That's my input... but I always seem to make things far more complicated than they should be... so, good luck.

well, if the draping class gets enough people, which i should find out by this afternoon, i'm going to drop tt 331. i haven't taken spanish for over a year, and i'm real rusty. if i keep waiting to take 208 (i haven't taken 202 yet either), my minor won't happen, i'm pretty sure.

it's just a pain going and watching those videos.
