Islands, which is 2/3 of the outstanding musical group "The Unicorns" will be opening for metric at the cats cradle sunday march 12. I've managed to find a few mp3's off of their upcoming album and I think all unicorns fans will be pleased. Nick Diamonds is still your singer so the voice is the same, it's just not as dark as their unicorns stuff.

^you're crazy. 'who will cut our hair...' is one of the best albums I've purchased in the last five years hands down, and I buy LOTS of music. Call them what you will, but that album is amazing.

Not abrasive? There are plenty of parts that are abrasive. I mean, it's one of my favorite albums from the past, well, whenever, but it's not the most accesible of records.

i listen to a lot of music that people would consider 'not accessible' and i get LOTS of music each yeartoo, probably as much as you. and besides getting the stereotype of "metal/hardcore" from being in that kind of band i listen to many many different kinds of music, but to me, i just always found their music boring and most of it trying too hard to be different, not accessible, and "artsy". in doing so i felt like they took the 'music' out of it.

i have two of their albums on my computer, they were sent to me by someone who thought i would like them a few years ago. and ive heard others from them.

just not my thing really tho. and then i guess what really made me DISlike them instead of just not caring for their music was that they always seemed to have a ridiculously arrogant vibe about them in interviews and stuff

Islands was good. Their live sound needs some work, but I really enjoyed myself. The first band was lame. Their guitar player looked like Prince's white cousin.
