The only skins thread this season was the post-dallas-game thread, so here's a new one.

and I'll start off with great news:

Today we are announcing the hiring of Al Saunders (KC Chiefs) as our new offensive coordinator.
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god bless our ridiculous revenue. I hope this isn't a Marvin Lewis one-and-done coordinator job. looks like saunders, passing on the Raiders HC job, might pull a Monte Kiffin and be a liftime assistant. He's poretty old and this was a good time to get an NFL head coaching job.

yeah that was a good hire but what QB will he have to work with next year? Either Brunell or Ramsey will be gone and the other will most likely have the job unless JC shows he can handle being a starter. I think they will trade Ramsey, keep Brunell, if comes back healthy enough. We saw this year that when he was healthy he still had game. He won't make it through next year, so JC will have to be ready to go at some point. We also need a big time WR to help Moss out some. Other than that I see most of our guys coming back. The Arrington saga will be interesting to follow though.

the rumor mill says that lavar is potentially willing to restructure. he has said hundreds of times that he is a "redskin for life." we'll see.

also, koren robinson said on Shawn Springs' public access show in DC that he "really wants to be a redskin" next year. he is a free agent this offseason (restricted) and the two are friends from seattle. we all know now that santana moss came both from a desire to get rid of coles but also on recommendations from portis. maybe gibbs and danny will listen to springs. could you imagine someone as tall and fast as KRob opposite moss? it would settle all return man issues too and we could dump the sometimes unreliable antonio brown.

the taylor legal issues are also going to be interesting. his court date is set for march 20, i think.. which is the first day of offseason workouts

you need to get your players to spit in the opposing teams' players' faces more often if you want to win in the playoffs

I'm thinking Lavar learned his lesson and will be a better player next year and will accept whatever GWill tells him.

As far as Koren. He might be a cheap pick up, and it seems he's gotten over his past issues. So I'd take him.

^ he sure can run fast, though.

also,
we signed a new defensive backs coach. old friend of gregg williams... was the bills' defensive coordinator the last several years. this coaching situation is too good to be true.

Oh I just creamed in my pants

Please let this be. Koren is one of the most talented players in the NFL... he just has a bad attitude. I fully believe Ole Joe can straighten him out.

Please please let this be

I heard that a few weeks ago, even if he didn't work out as a WR we could use a return man.

Oh, he'd be a WR.

I dunno though, it's gonna be tough to nab that starting position over Taylor Jacobs

art monk passed over again

he basically was marvin harrison before his time -- consistent as hell, quiet, just did his job

we all saw this coming though

irvin will get in next year, showing that crazy suits and cocaine are what really matters

russ grimm won another super bowl ring tonight coaching the steelers' line.

but he and monk were shunned again. you all know about how peter king and dr.z from sports illustrated basically blackball him at the voting meetings, right? fuck those guys.

1) Ramsey + picks for John Abraham? Jason La Canfora of the WP claims Ramsey will be gone this week.

2) Great Moments in NFL History:

well, we cut lavar. cap is probably not going to be a problem now. lots of guys, wynn, thomas, brunell, etc... are all restructuring if necessary, but lavar's situation apparently was too heavy on the cap.

not surprised, not concerned about the future (we've got linebackers, and I'm interested to see Robet McCune play), but...

sad to see such a likeable, big-play, tenured redskin go. not that he ever won anything as a skin, but... damn.

lavar always seemed like a good guy in interviews, but when it came to money, he really tried to screw the skins

i am sad to see him go since he is a good player. i just hope he doesn't end up with another team in the nfc east

so, we released five guys the other day: tupa, noble, raymer, bowen, and walt harris. we are under the cap.

raymer should have been cut during the seecond half of the seahawks playoff game for ineptitude, tupa is a punter (whatever), noble and bowen were injured last year anyway and didnt play much (noble at all)... walt harris is the only notable cut, and he had lost his starting job to rogers by the end of the year anyway...

now robert royal, a UFA, signed with buffalo. my thoughts were that we were going to try to pick up a decent TE in a draft with a lot of talent at that position.

with betts probably gone, we resigned rock cartwright to a deal.

lastly, we made derrick dockery a mid-level offer, and if he is picked up by anyone they have to give us a first-round pick. Win-win.

good cuts, and solid re-signings. dockery is our worst starting lineman but pretty crucial. if we lose him we could probably get a dock-level guard in the draft.
whew.

^Could be a promising pick-up, if Brunell has a solid year that could be a VERY potent offense.

Moss + Lloyd + Cooley + Portis = Serious Potential

^ probably brunell this year, unless something goes wrong, but ramsey is essentially gone. campbell may still be a year out.

however, this thread, along with the redskins offseason, is blowin up...
confirmed we have acquired:
- Archuleta
- Lloyd
- Randle El
- Fauria

and now nfl.com and ESPN are saying that tomorrow Andre Carter (DE/OLB) from the 49ers is going to sign with us tomorrow. he'll be much better as a DE hopefully

also, rumors still abound about what we're going to do with Patrick Ramsey, and a likely scenario involves him being moved possibly to the Jets, with picks or possibly Daniels or Patten (the packaging in a deal is very much speculation)... for John Abraham, who has visited Redskins Park.

seems like all very smart pick-ups. proven, solid guys, who are young (minus Fauria, but youth isn't the key as much as replacing royal with someone solid). Lloyd's interview today was especilly encouraging. he seems so incredibly happy to be a skin.

solid pickup, no john abraham but definitely will help

btw just want to point out that the skins must not have had the cap problems that the media was guessing they would. . .at this time last week it was "the skins are going to have to fill their roster with forklift drivers and toll booth attendants"
