My friend turned on his computer earlier today and he said after 10 minutes, the screen went blue and it rebooted. Once it rebooted, it had a "disk boot failure, insert boot disc and press enter" type message. Does anyone know what went wrong? He can't find his boot disc either. Any advice would be appreciated. 1/19/2006 9:03:49 PM |

It means the MBR on the hard disk has been corrupted/deleted. When it ask for a "Boot disc" it means it needs a something to boot the computer from, whether that be a floppy disc, a CD/DVD-ROM, or another HD. How to go about fixing it is beyond my expertise though.1/19/2006 9:26:29 PM |

just to be 100% certain that protostar's advice is correct, make sure there's no floppy in the drive. if not, protostar's on the money 1/20/2006 2:22:38 AM |
