welp apparently not for minolta.

but i guess nikon feels that the wave of digital overshadows film enough to just pull out of film and stick to straight digital cameras.

minolta just couldn't keep up with all of the technology, who's CCD is bigger rat race.

true, but stopping camera production (besides the dslr thing with sony) all together is kinda crazy... yet HP cameras keep on going...

i'd pick a minolta over a kodak anyday...

When it comes to the higher end (dslr's) no one would buy a HP though. Pretty much same with Minolta.

Its Canon/Nikon >>>>>>> Olympus/Mintolta/Fujifilm etc.

This is hardly a surprise they're quitting. I've never even seen a Minolta point-n-shoot.

I still get better prints from negatives than I do from digital cameras. Camera costs ~700, film is ~2.50 a roll, 20x24 and larger prints have better sharpness and color compared to any camera costing less than 12k.

all it means is that consumers buy a film camera every 5-15 years and a new digital cameras every 2-3 years. there is no need to spend money producing cameras that very few buy when their manufacturing and R&D $$$ can go to new digital cameras.
