what was impressive was seeing David Thompson's name up there in that highlight...scored like 73 in a game

No one can say that there is anyone better than this guy ever at the age he is!
By the way, the lakers were down 20 in the 3rd quarter. Only shot 46 shots to get that!

Dude.

I already thought he had become the best player in the league.

I guess this removes all doubt.

Unbelievable. They were down 14 at half.

Wasn't his set before the NBA added the 3-point line?

Actually, it doesn't matter, since Kobe only made 7 threes in the game. Still would've beaten him by 1.

^ Didn't know that. Good catch.

DT did it in, I believe 78.... The 3 point line I just found didn't come until 79

this proves that kobe can be "the best player" without shaq. but you can still wonder if he can win without shaq.

but damn. 81. that's bananas.

^^^ maybe not... although i doubt that anyone chooses to make shots that far away without incentive, it is possible that he was behind what would have been the three point line.

^Monte Towe comes to mind, as someone who took deep shots before the 3-point line.

Also, Whitt in '83--the tourney still hadn't adopted the three-pointer at the time (although V's teams made great use of it in the ACC).

He's done a lot of what Jordan had done before even reaching the age where Jordan won his first championship.

yeah its hard to really say either way who is better b/t Kobe and Jordan...

Its just too early and their situations arent comparable.

Kobe won young but as the 2nd fiddle...

Jordan didnt do anything young, but then won a lot during his prime with good teams...

you could argue for either one of them right now i guess.

Jordan always had more talent on his team and he finally won his first championship when he started to pass the ball.

I think everyone who dislikes Kobe does so because he is better than Jordan at the same ages they were and is almost just as good at Jordan's prime.

kobe to this point is less than one assist per game under jordan's career average... and jordan's assists went down when they started winning championships... not up...

Huh? I don't give a fuck about Jordan either, really.

I can't stand Kobe because he's a Laker. I don't think I need any more of a reason.

You always hear Phil saying that the bulls started winning when Jordan finally understood that he should pass more during the game and that is was not all about him. Not to forget, he had some pretty good players.

they are still 22-19, even though this is a stunning and remarkable feet, you need to pass more to win more

either: "this is a stunning and remarkable foot"
or: "these are stunning and remarkable feet."

the difference between kobe and jordan won't be numbers but just the general aura that jordan brought to the game with him. he made his teammates better, and i don't think that kobe has that ability yet. it goes beyond just passing, and not to mention jordan played great defense as well. i remember it was like a huge deal when jordan and the bulls came to town, and you went to the game to watch him. i don't think i'd ever budge because kobe was in the vacinity.

there will never be another jordan and this thing that has started lately especially in basketball of declaring people to be the "next so and so" is getting really annoying. not sure if anyone else feels that way but i just think its getting old.

Jordan may have made his teammates better.

But lets not forget that his teammates WERE better.

Jordan never even made the playoffs without Scottie Pippen.

The Bulls were still good without Jordan in 1994 and they were alright in 1995 without him...

Kobe is flat out sick right now. 2 assists is a joke? Are you serious? He scored 81 points on 46 shots (56 shots, since you should count 2 FTA as shots). Why did he need to pass? Who else was going to shoot 80% from the field?
