All of a sudden, I cannot open Outlook Express, the Microsoft error window comes up, asking me if I want to send the error to Microsoft, Etc. Already tried restarting, any other suggestions are appreciated.

I don't think Outlook Express is in the regular Add/Remove menu. You might have to go to Add/Remove Programs, then click Add/Remove System Components, or something like that, in the left column. Then you'll get a list with check-boxes and you can uncheck OE to uninstall, and go through that again and re-check it again to reinstall.

Before doing that, you could try to backup your OE data (mail, settings, contacts) into another program. Ideally, you shouldn't be using Outlook Express anyway - should be using the full version of Outlook or Thunderbird. If you don't have Outlook, download thunderbird here - http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/ - and install it. On first run, it will ask if you want to import all your mail and settings from Outlook Express. Say yes, then you'll have a full back up of everything. I suggest trying to use Thunderbird as your main mail client then, but if you want to use OE, you can then go through the uninstall/install process described above.

-If you have MS Office installed, see if you can get into Outlook XP or Outlook 2003.
-Run Windows/Microsoft Update and get the latest updates for the computer if you haven't already.
-Go with what agentlion said.

I think outlook express is the only one that allows hotmail which is the main reason why I still use it.

not out-of-the box, but there are extensions and tools that allow you to download Hotmail, Yahoo and other webmail into Thunderbird -
here's an extension that you install in Thunderbird -
http://webmail.mozdev.org/installation.html

and here's a small program that acts as a proxy. It accesses your hotmail, then thunderbird 'downloads' the mail from it

You need to setup hotmail as an Internet Email account (HTTP). Addy to put in is: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp

Know it works in both Outlook Express and Outlook 2003. Don't recall what its the account type is called in OE.

Well now I downloaded thunderbird, I can receive emails but not send them. Everything is fine with my outgoing server, but it won't let me send emails. The funny thing is that I sent a test email to myself after the trouble, and it went through, so I guess I can send emails to NCSU unity accounts. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Are you on or off campus? Search for "SMTP" on NCSU search if you are on-campus. Search for "SMTP" on whatever your internet provider's website is if you are off-campus.

(I miss NCSU's all-access SMTP server )
