HELL YEAH

this will be my fifth or sixth avetts show - they rock the place so hard everytime i've seen em live, the new year's show at neighborhood theatre in charlotte was particuarly awesome

the new cd comes out feb 7th

they're bluegrass, rock, country, and even a little, little bit of blues all rolled up into one, believe that^, you oughta go

spro, I was at that Charlotte show too. Couldn't agree more, it was awesome.

I've given up on trying to categorize them when people ask what type of music it is...

I'd definitely like to see them live, but if it's gonna sell out I'd rather not go.

from now on, around here at least (since they're from mt pleasant, nc and got their start in greenville), i don't think there's going to be a venue they play where they don't sell the place out -

their fanbase comes from far and wide to come watch; at the unc show, people were getting there late because they'd been driving...they'd driven since they'd gotten off work (AT FIVE) to get there

you see a lot of the same people at their shows, they really have almost a family/community type feel to them... it's interesting to see the crowd they bring out too, it's such an eclectic mix of people - all this said, best live show ever as far as i'm concerned, but i'm a homer

they mightve been born in concord, but i know for a fact that both of em went to mount pleasant high school - my roommate and some of my other friends went to school there, they all vouch for this, a lot of the ppl at the shows are also from mphs and they always have a mini-reunion - i believe their stage manager, dane honeycutt - you know the guy who always brings out new instruments when strings get broken - went to mt pleasant as well

first time I saw 'em was at the Wine Vault in Charlotte in Summer '02

If they played that place now, the cops would probably have to shut it down.

i think my first time seeing them was in fact at cat's - maybe two years ago-ish, bought carolina jubilee that night and eventually got mignonette - i always tell people to go see them live before i wanna let em listen to the cd's - theyre good, but their performances live are better... especially when bob starts swinging his bass around, and when seth and scott go through at least 4-5 broken strings

I ordered the new Avett CD from Amazon a looong time ago, it's not getting here til later today. you would think a store as big as Amazon, with all its distribution centers, would be able to get it to my door on release date. grrrr

on another note, what can you guys recommend to an everybodyfields n00b such as myself? I'm looking for a kind of cliff notes, to see if I will like them. Thanks.

you can go to http://www.everybodyfields.com to listen to some of their music

I liked what I heard on the website and here is a summary for you:

They are acoustic bluegrass/folk/country i guess
They are a nationaly touring band from Johnson City Tennessee
They won 2005 Chris Austin songwriting contest at Merlefest - not easy to do
They have released two CD's

They have played around here in the past so I would be interested to hear if anybody has seen/heard them.

I saw them play once at Chico's in Greenville. They were good.

Doubt it's worth ten dollars though since you can catch them playing for free in restaurants.

absofreakinlutely

and i got the new cd yesterday at schoolkids, it is awesome^infinity

even better than mignonette, they continue to keep fine-tuning their sound - the sound is a little different, but it definitely reeks of avett-ness
