Lightscribe can be fun. Just remember that you're spending the extra cash for entertainment more than superior technology. The only real advantage is that they're a hundred times better than the stick on lables that can cause rotational balance issues.

I just got the hp dvd740 or something like that with Lightscribe, so far the only disc I've tried was the sample that came with it. It's pretty cool but like you said only 2 colors, the media is actually coming down a bit from what I've seen. Also keep in mind it takes like <20 mins to burn the image.

Color lightscrive is coming soon.

The discs will go down in price, but still a lot cheaper and nicer looking than label systems.....

I'd hold off on buying one. Like they say color ones are supposed to be coming soon. Personally I'm fine with sharpies.

That pie is making me hungry. A friend of mine just got a new PC and it has the lightscribe in it, haven't heard from him if he's tried to use it yet. All I would want it for is just to label it, wouldn't care about putting any major graphics on it.

i have the hp 740whatever as well...it's actually a relabeled...lite-on, perhaps? i don't know, i actually jacked the firmware from a different model drive and loaded it up into the hp because it wouldn't burn in dvd-rom mode, only +r, which my parents' old dvd player wouldn't read

as for lightscribe, i didn't even REALIZE it was only two colors, but oh well...the drive itself was free for me...those graphics ARE cool, though
