Hi,
Anyone know of any good traffic lawyers in the Boone/Wilkesboro region? Trooper got me at 70 in a 55, and I don't want to take any chances with the insurance. I have never gotten a speeding ticket before and have read the countless previous threads on the subject. I'm reluctant to use a PFJ, as I'm hoping maybe a lawyer can get it dropped? Anyway, any good tips or advice would be most helpful.
Thanks! 1/30/2006 5:57:33 PM |

You'll soon get letters from lawyers in that area offering their services. Prices range from 150 to 250 plus court, fine and driving record. About 400-450 total to hire attorney in that area. They will go to court for you and most likely get the ticket down to improper equipment as long as the officer is willing and your driving record is ok. Shouldn't be to much trouble. 1/30/2006 7:14:09 PM |

Let me guess, highway 421? That road's a speed trap if there ever was one. 1/30/2006 7:40:18 PM |

THanks for your help.
Yea, I was going south on 421 when I got nailed. Trooper crossed the median even.
I'm curious though...what does an "improper equipment" charge equate to? 1/30/2006 8:54:03 PM |

Scott Casey is a lawyer in Boone. He got me out of 74 in a 55 with Improper Equipment. I dunno how much it costs since the parents paid for it.

I just know it doesn't affect insurance or count as points, so not much.1/30/2006 9:34:12 PM |

yeah, you'll get a bunch of letters from local lawyers asking to represent you - just call around and go with the one you like the best.
if you want to call around some more, make an appointment with student legal services and they will give you some names and numbers of lawyers in the area, too. 1/30/2006 9:42:41 PM |

Were you in Boone, or were you in Wilkesboro, because you might want a lawyer in the county that you got the ticket in. 1/31/2006 9:34:40 AM |

The ticket was for Wilkes county. If that helps. I tried Casey, but they don't do Wilkes county unfortunately. 1/31/2006 1:14:54 PM |
