The first one is Cold Air Intake
The send one is just Air Intake
What's the difference? Should i get it? If so, which one?

I dont really know much about either of them. I have a 100hp car, and any (even slight) hp gain would be awesome.

well i always doubted running a "cold air intake" through metal pipe under the hood.... it seems that by the time it makes it to the motor it would be about the same temp as everything else under the hood



but that one isn't to long the difference is one tries to pull cooler, more dense air into the motor from outside the engine bay.

they other just tries to suck in more air than stock.

cold air intake does actually get colder air from outside the engine bay (not that it adds more than 1 horsepower) of course since most cold air intakes draw the air from the wheel well, when it rains you can get water in your intake and hydrolock your engine.

I just wouldn't get either - it's not like you are gonna give your car more power by buying $9 parts from ebay. If anything, just get a K+N drop in replacement filter (that will probably help more, and you don't waste money on crappy ebay parts)

it depends how restrictive the stock intake is. some cars will definately see gains

cold air intake only shows a benefit off the line where the stock intake would be aspirating the hot air trapped under the hood... past like 5-10mph the air temperature under the hood wouldn't be significantly higher than ambient-- and the additional length of the CAI (all things being equal) would add resistance to flow

if you think about it, almost all cars will be significantly if not entirely traction limited from a stop to 5mph, so there really isn't much room for improvement there to begin with

So in short. It's not worth it. Save your money, and if anything buy a new drop in replacement filter.

R32s gain a solid 12whp w/ just a CAI on a bone stock car. the stock airbox was just to small and restrictive for the motor. its been dyno proven dozens of times.

the M3 however, shows marginal if any gains w/ a CAI. so i dont have one

it just depends on the car

basically the bigger the engine and more power you have to start with, the more you will see. its a percentage thing. a 300 hp V-8 might gain 10-15 hp, a 100 hp 4 banger might gain 2-4.

you drive a corolla i wouldnt worry about picking up hp, save your money and buy something with more power when you can afford it.

if you put a high flow intake on your vehicle, also get a higher flow cat-back exhaust system (but this was probably already suggested in this thread)

^im 19, and my parents gave me this car in HS which I am more than grateful for. My parents want me to maintain my 3.8 GPA taking 18 hours every semester. so they dont let me work. Buying a nicer car sounds really really far away

spend the money on something more useful then.... having had an ebay CAI on my civ, and then going back to factory intake (Header, "high-flow" cat, and cat-back exhaust retained), I felt no difference between the two setups. maybe you should try looking for a cat-delete pipe/resonator/test-pipe... tests in my "Honda dyno tuning" book show 3-4whp increases with that single component swap, I also got one from ebay for $34 (altho im not running it anymore)
